As it turns out, an old Dodge at night looks no different in a pandemic. #photography

Working in these times is strange and interesting, but lucky enough to be working the bits that I am...and in a lot of situations with people I trust and am fortunate enough to call my friends. That being said, shutting 'er back down til January. Merry Christmas, everyone.... #photography

Kris. My favourite portraits include the "look aways", a moment where I get the subject to disengage from the lens, and try to get them to think about something other than the fact the portrait is being taken. Two dates still available for in-studio, individual portraits booking: Dec 5th and Dec 12th. If you are interested, please DM me or email [email protected] for more details.... #photography

I always appreciate this guy's willingness to jump in front of the camera when I'm looking for some content. My male muse, Mr. David Taggart. . . . #photography

I flipped through an old journal recently and came across a scribbled line: "Life happens, and I happen with it." At the age of 19 or 20, what I may have been trying to express when I wrote that escapes me, but the sense I have of them now distracts me.... I realized the other day around a bon fire that I put a lot of emphasis in distinguishing between "what" I am and "who" I am. To me there is little to no relation, as my answers pertaining to the "what" constantly, grow, dip, surge, explore, and continue independent of the "who". I don't know how to resolve the conflict I have on that point because I cannot concede to there NOT being a difference between the two. I continue to feel as though the "what" we are allows us to fall too easily in line, and to be any different would be to go too strongly against that line. But, frankly, it's just a lot of work to change anything. Not to mention the inconvenience of it all. And what's the alternative, anyway? Ok, sure, I feel like something isn't right in our world right now, and it's ridiculously easy to say that, but what is the result of "change", should change ever have the opportunity to happen? I think this is my struggle, my epiphany: I can't just "happen with it". What I don't know is what I can do about that, while at the same time really wanting to. For now, I keep taking portraits. . . . #photography

Got 34 minutes to kill? https://youtu.be/z1l8wR8K-MA "Other Photos" - Project Projection... A 34 minute collection of David Irvine photographs (accompanied with soundtrack recording of a live, off the floor jam session featuring David Taggart on guitar and David Irvine on drums), which was projected onto the side wall of Place 1870 I'm Wakefield, QC on September 18th, 2020. Wondering how long it will be before the novelty of the red backdrop fades away, but enjoying it so far. Enjoying the different lighting set ups, but recognizing where I need to improve. Thinking it seems inconsequential, but working on reinventing myself in the studio.... I am happy with my collection of work, tho I don't see its relevance yet. I'm afraid that its potential is a digital photo album on a computer somewhere that no one looks at when I am no longer here. I must be ok with that tho because I love doing it. . . . #pondering #photography #photographer #pic #picoftheday #photooftheday #portrait #portraitphotography #photo #studio #studiophotography #wakefield #quebec #canadian #davidirvinephotographer #headshots #everydaypeople #studiophotography #studio #canadianphotographer #red #colourphotography

Rainy Sunday - Basement Vibes Channeling past video production vibes of local greats Jack Pelletier (Don't Be Denied Productions) and Simon Neufeld by sourcing public domain footage for this catchy l'il warm up diddy played in a basement by David Taggart / Pat Hodgins / David Irvine in September 2020. Christophe, encore. There's something about shooting wide open with an 85mm that gives me happy feelings. Can't remember the last time I shot a natural light portrait. I'm too distracted with the studio lights I suppose. Perhaps I will try regressing back to a simpler time...... . . . #photography #photographer #pic #picoftheday #photooftheday #portrait #portraitphotography #photo #studio #studiophotography #wakefield #quebec #canadian #davidirvinephotographer #headshots #everydaypeople #studiophotography #studio #canadianphotographer See more
