Global equities were down as COVID-19 infection rates rose. U.S. economic concerns also centre on the pending election and the nomination of RBG's replacement. Canadian bonds were relatively quiet with longer-term rates showing a slight decrease which means prices increased. Again - Diversify!
A negative week for global stock markets. Positive week for Canadian bonds. Diversify.

I work in an industry that seems to be dominated by extroverts. I like extroverts. They can be a lot of fun. However, I’m not sure why they think we introverts need their unsolicited advice to solve problems we don’t have. In my industry, that advice usually entails being more extroverted in some way. ... I know some people just like to be helpful, but it’s important to understand we can all achieve our own measures of success, in our own and sometimes different ways. When you need help, please don’t hesitate to ask someone. Keep being you.
We have been working harder, but more efficiently than ever. We proactively shut down our physical office space in early March 2020 because of Covid-19. While the thought of working from home did create some initial concerns, I'm extremely pleased with how smooth the process has actually been. Technology resources and emotional support provided by our head office have been amazing. We didn't miss a beat. We met regularly with clients throughout the lockdown and provided m...any valuable information sessions via webinars to others looking for help and answers. On July 20, 2020, our office spaces reopened. We began a schedule of rotating days we can spend in the office to ensure we adhere to social distant guidelines and continue to work from home on non-office days. Thank you to all Atlantic Canadians for their hard work and discipline in following isolation procedures. If you have any retirement or investment concerns you'd like to discuss, please reach out. We'd be glad to help in any way we can. See more
Just finished reading @Moshe A. Milevsky, PhD’s 2013 book Are You a Stock or a Bond? This book is suitable for all readers interested in their retirement planning (which I believe should be everyone), but I would definitely recommend for people ages 30-50. Dr. Milevsky explains important financial concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. It’s a practical guide to attainable retirement goals. Page 204: In the accumulation phase, asset allocation is the most important ...decision that people face with their investments. If you allocate too much of your retirement nest egg to any one asset class, economic sector, or industry, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Diversify your assets. In the retirement income phase, however, product allocation will become (even) more important. Not sexy and it may sound basic, but oh, so true.
Political environment. Pandemic. Personal health issues. I've had quite a few clients that have either sold or are considering selling their US properties. Here are some things to know if you are considering selling: https://www.igprivatewealth.com//thinking-about-selling-yo
