Looking for a job this spring?? This is a great opportunity! Please pass on to anyone you know who might be interested. Statistics Canada is hiring approximately 32,000 people across the country to help collect census data starting April 1st and running into July. ... If you would enjoy making a difference in your community and country, and want to learn more about your neighbours, working as a census enumerator or crew leader may be the job for you. These temporary positions are perfect for practicing your teamwork, organization and communication skills. The census paints a portrait of Canada's population and the places where we live. Information from the census will ensure that your community has the data it needs for planning schools, daycare, housing, hospitals, emergency services, roads, public transportation, and employment skills training. I personally consider it a gift for present and future generations.
Are you researching your family history or are you interested in how to start? Whether you consider this treasure hunting or stalking the dead, (like my daughter tells me I’m doing) census records can provide the building blocks of your research, allowing you to confirm information and learn more. The next time the census rolls around for you to fill out, try not to see it as an annoyance and look at it as a gift for future generations. It’s 70-90 years before they become... available to the public, your information is safe. How amazing is it that you can take a little peek into the past and place yourself in their shoes. Meet my great grand uncle Axel.
If anyone in town has stacks of old Davidson leaders.. far back as you have I’ll take for the library for archiving !

Our number one goal is to encourage literacy! Feel free to share in the comments what you are currently reading at home--whether is it a physical book, an eBook, an eAudiobook, or even something else being read by a family member. If you are reading it, we want to hear about it!
A big Merry Christmas and happy holidays from the Davidson library! Stay safe and warm and find joy wherever you can.. if its a little quieter this year than others maybe you can get some quality reading in. Feel free to use our drop off slot for returns, we will be closed until Tuesday December 29th! ... If you need to grab books next week we will be here Tuesday and Wednesday!
Thank you, thank you, thank you... for participating in our Christmas Raffle! Your generosity helped to raise $860 for your local library. We appreciate each and every one of you! We had the best little helper come in with some Christmas magic to draw two names this morning, and our winner for basket number one is Victoria Martin and basket number two, is Betty Maunder! I will give both ladies a call, and we can arrange a pick up.
Winter is here..
If you are interested in some Christmas scavenger hunt cards to create some joy over the holidays, we have made some up for you to take and use with whatever fun prizes or gifts you want to use!
Read and Rhyme tomorrow at 10am! If you would like to join in message me for our zoom link
