New @brooksrunningca #adrenalinegts21 The new Adrenaline GTS just dropped ! This much-loved Brooks shoe is softer and smoother than ever, with #guiderails support to keep you in stride. With a shoe this comfortable , the hardest part is picking a colour (we like the White/Grey/Atomic Blue - 190 )

The Brooks Ghost has won eight Editors’ Choice awards (Runner's World) because it can do everything. The Brooks Ghost is one of the most popular shoes for runners of all abilities and is especially beloved by first-time marathoners. It provides a soft, smooth ride regardless of how your foot lands. The lucky thirteenth iteration manages to upgrade what was already a Runner’s World Editors’ Choice winner. We’ve used it for tempo runs, long runs, and even speedwork. As such, ...it’s that one shoe we typically recommend for runners of all levelsveteran marathoners and new runners alike. A key to its comfort is the mix of foams that delivers a ride that’s cushioned but not too soft. It now uses a full-length midsole of DNA Loft for a well-cushioned landing with each stride, while BioMoGo DNA under the toes gives you a springy toe-off. The 12th version had an engineered mesh upper, with zones designed for stretch and support that fit better than earlier models, but felt a little warm on exceptionally hot days, so Brooks updated the 13 with a more breathable air mesh. It’s hard to rate this shoe as anything less than ultra comfortable, super stable, sturdy, and true-to-size, our Associate Test Director, Jen Sherry, said. Everything from the padded tongue and the silky-smooth ankle collar to the soft-but-not-spongey cushioning make the Ghost a shoe I have a hard time finding something negative about. Now available @ da Vinci Orthotics Sarnia - tag a runner you know !

Foot FAQ/Fact Friday Q: I just had a knee replacement. Do I need new orthotics? A: After a knee replacement, it is always a good idea to see your Canadian Cer...tified Pedorthist for a check-up. Although your arch may not have changed, the way your foot is moving may have. During a knee replacement, the surgery may change the structure of the knee and the way it moves. After the replacement, and as you go through rehabilitation, your muscle strength will be changing. There may be improvements to imbalances that were present prior to the surgery and even though these changes are likely a good thing, foot movement can change in the process. Before the surgery, the orthotics may have been correcting imbalances at the knee joint. If these imbalances were corrected or changed from the surgery, then it will be best to check how your orthotics are working at the foot, ankle and knee level. If enough time has gone by since your previous orthotic casting, or enough changes have occurred, a new pair may be recommended. After you have had a knee replacement, talk to your Canadian Certified Pedorthist to ensure your orthotics are still providing the appropriate support! If you have a friend or family member who has had a knee replacement and think they would benefit from an appointment with a Canadian Certified Pedorthist, be sure to tag them or send them the link to find a Pedorthist. It’s back to school time ! What shoes should my child be wearing? Did you know children should never wear hand me down shoes? With COVID considerations, it can be easy to forget about the feet! When going back to school, having the proper shoes can help prevent pain from developing. ... There are a couple key considerations when looking for the proper shoes for you children: proper fit and proper support. When fitting shoes for a growing child, it is common for parents to buy shoes larger to help them last longer. Although, if the shoe is too large, this may can cause trips and falls. To fit the length, there should be about 1/2 or a thumb width from the end of the toe to the end of the shoe. If the shoe fit is significantly longer than this, it is too long. To find the proper support, there are a couple tests to perform. First, try and bend the middle of the shoe in half. The shoe should be solid and resist the force from your hands. The second test is to push the back of the heel to test the heel counter. This heel counter should be solid and resist the pressure from your thumb. Often an indoor and outdoor shoe may be required. If there is a situation preventing good support for both the indoor and outdoor shoe, consider which one your child is wearing most often. Use the more supportive shoe for the most used shoe. Something to consider are the activities being done while indoor versus outdoor. They may be wearing the indoor shoes more often, but outdoors physically on their feet more often. Canadian Certified Pedorthists can help you find the right fit and get the right shoe for your child’s feet. https://www.pedorthic.ca/put-shoes-at-the-top-of-your-bac/
