Good Morning, Friends. Today is September 10, and it is World Suicide Prevention Day. Please share this post far and wide. Suicide hotlines are listed at th...e bottom of the page. There still exists such stigma around mental health struggles and suicide/suicidality feels scary to talk about for most people. But the fact is, most people will think about suicide at least once during their lifetime. It's ok to ask how someone is feeling...and asking about suicide does NOT EVER make someone else suddenly begin to think about suicide. MomBoss and I work with people who think about suicide, who have attempted suicide and who love people they have lost to suicide....every day. We are not afraid to talk about it, so if you need us please reach out. There are so many places to get help if you or someone you love is thinking about suicide. It is ok to be not ok. Help is available. There can be hope. You are not alone. 24/7 Lower Mainland Crisis Line: 604-951-8855 24/7 BC Crisis Line: 1-877-820-7444 24/7 Crisis Services Canada: 1-833-456-4566 Canadian Index of Local Crisis Lines: https://suicideprevention.ca/need-help/ 24/7 USA National Crisis Line: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) International Suicide Hotlines Index: http://www.suicide.org/international-suicide-hotlines.html #dogwithajob #worldsuicidepreventionday #suicide #macmanandmomboss University of the Fraser Valley Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS)

It's Wellness Wednesday again! Today, I want to talk to you about the importance of physical health in your overall wellness. To a certain extent, physical hea...lth has 'standards' from the medical/science worlds, but because we are all unique with different areas of strength and challenge, it really is your own definition of YOUR physical health that matters. For me, I have a little tendency to forget that I am a very senior dog and I play like a 5 year old...and then I throw my hips/back/knees out and am sore. Luckily for me, MomBoss watches me carefully and as soon as I show signs of discomfort we head to see the Docs at Fort Family Chiropractic to fix me up. So, for your own wellness...try to watch yourself and if you are feeling unwell in any physical way, go get checked out. We only get 1 body in life, so remember to take care of it the best you can. These photos are before, during and after my treatment with Dr. Shaun. What a difference, right?! Thanks, Doc ! xoxo, Mac #dogwithajob #macmanandmomboss University of the Fraser Valley Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS)

It’s Wellness Wednesday, Friends! Today I wanted to talk about feelings, because lately I’ve seen so many people who don’t want to feel their feels. People of...ten avoid feelings, bury them or ignore them. Feelings get a bad rep, I thinkif you are alive, then you have feelings. Sometimes, those emotions are hard to take; maybe they are very strong, or you don’t know where they are coming from or they hurt. But wellness involves emotional health aka feelings. To maximize your wellness, you have to experience feelings. So how do you force yourself to experience emotions that are hard to take? There is a little coping skill I call emotional chunking. If you consciously allow yourself to ‘feel the feels’ even for a short time (a ‘chunk’ of time), you also allow yourself to explore in that short time, where the emotions are coming from and how to process them. Lean into the feelings if you can. Then, allow yourself to come out of the feelings realm...go for a walk/roll, do the dishes, read a book. If your emotions are strong, upsetting or if you have trouble feeling anything, please reach out for support. I am here to help and so are the other UFV Counsellors. You don’t have to feel the feels alone. xoxo, Mac #macmandandmomboss #dogwithajob University of the Fraser Valley Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS)
