Squirrel.... there are so many interesting things to look at in the shop, its pretty easy to get distracted. We just got in this new pottery, locally made and hand painted in Saskatchewan. We ourselves are local makers ( drapery, toss cushions, masks, soap) , we try to support other local makers because we understand the value that they contribute to our culture and community. I am not sure if theses are squirrels or chipmunks, but they are so cute. On the farm we have a... cute little squirrel that that I see ever once in a while. I have friends at the lake that have practically tame squirrels, that they feed peanuts to. It is so cool to sit outdoors with a coffee see them close up as them come to get their peanut. They even have names for them. Squirrels are part of our prairie lifestyle, as we share our beautiful landscape with them. do you have any squirrel stories or photos, I would love for you to add them to this post. See more

Home made Tortilla wraps. Pick up this weeks recipe in this weeks free edition of the Vermilion Voice. We have copies for you at the shop. The filling can be made ahead, and then just fill and roll the wraps. These are stuffed with a hamburger and bean base, then additions such as cheddar cheese and sliced cooked potatoes inside. So yummy, serve with your choice of salad and your favorite salsa and hot sauce.

Brooke has on one dress that is styled many different ways. We have styled it for work, attending a wedding, shopping or meeting a friend for coffee. Brooke even added a shirt ( or you can use a sweater) to make the dress look more like a skirt. New masks have arrived. From Poland we have the ones with the butterflies, the tan and green camo, and black. $9.59 The masks from Poland have nano particles of silver in the fabric to help prevent the build up of bacteria on the inside of the mask. We also have lots of reusable cotton masks, some 2 layers, some are three layers, most have the nose fitting, and the option to add an additional filter, all hace soft elastic. We have youth sizes as well. We currently have in stock boxes of 50 disposable masks for 29.00 and packets of 10 disposable masks for 10.00. We have one box of black disposable masks. Our hand sanitizer is stocked, and we still have some Young Living Thieves hand sanitizer and hand soap.

Pretty mustards and golds show the sunny side of fall. Brooke is enjoying all the pretty colors and the sunshine downtown today. Brookes is teaming these Canadian designer mustard tops with different colored slacks. We love the first pants, it is a greyed blue green color, new from Tribal, and super comfy. Happy fall, want to make a quick and easy fall display? We just added some fall foliage on top of a linen napkin, on top of a glass footed cake plate. We are featuring our Royal Doulton Gordon Ramsay Maze, open stock dinnerware on our table display. Open stock means that if you break piece, you can buy that piece you need, so your dinnerware never needs to be chipped or missing pieces. 16 piece sets for 129.00 . For our tabletop display we have used jugs and pitchers to... pop fall foliage into. We carry reusable fabric napkins as well as April Cornell tablecloths. I am in love with this country turkey platter, with farm designs in it. This unique piece is perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas and will sure to become a family heirloom. In keeping with the farm house look, we have super cute jugs with pigs handles, that would be perfect for gravy or to use as a vase. yay, our masks from Poland have arrived. This masks have silver in the fabric, which helps prevent the build-up of bacteria inside the mask. They are made of cotton, easier to breath, and have the metal at the nose for a better fit. Yummy Pumpkin Spice muffins!! Made with all healthy ingredients, including flour made of oats, oat bran, ground flax seed and pumpkin. You can pick up my recipe and my article in this weeks Vermilion Voice, we have free copies at the shop. ... These are so good. here is the recipe. Pumpkin Oat Bran and Flax Muffins 1 cup unbleached flour 1/2 cup oat bran 1/2 cup ground flax seed 1/2 cup ground oat flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional) 4 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon ginger 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1 cup pumpkin puree 1 egg 1/3 cup olive oil or real butter 3/4 cup water or milk 1 cup packed brown sugar 3/4 cup white sugar Optional walnuts or salted pumpkin seeds for topping, with pinches of sugar. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients including the spices. In a second bowl mix together the wet ingredients including the pumpkin, eggs, butter, water and stir well. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

We had lots of fun and crazy busy days last week. We finished painting a large wall in the shop white, for our new fall displays that Brooke just finished. Because the shows we go to are all cancelled, we had a sales rep, come to our shop, with 2 Canadian designer lines. He set up his showroom at the front of our shop. We had fun making selections for you for next summer! Brooke tried on a few of our choices to see how they would fit and drape. We finished the week of...f with a sidewalk sale, with other downtown neighbors. Local artist and staff, Linda Clark, set up all her painting gear outside the shop and soaked up the sun, on Friday. She even sold the painting that she was working on. Local entrepreneur Krista Holden, stopped by on Saturday, and we did an impromptu photo shoot. More photos to follow. We are still busy doing new displays for your shopping enjoyment, and we just got out a new shipment of fall fashions from Tribal, and I will try to get photos up. Also if you are sized 14 - 3X, all of our Dex, ladies fashions are on sale for 30% off. We are expecting another shipment of our masks from Poland that have the silver in them by Friday, fingers crossed. The silver in the fabric, helps prevent the build up of bacteria from your own mouth on the inside. They are coming in black.

I am in love with these Sophie Conran dinnerware sets. We have the white and pebble color in stock. They can be purchased with or without the mugs. We love that they are open stock, so you can always add a few extra plates as needed. We have the celedon cups in stock, if you want to see the color. I am privileged to know so many amazing ladies. Did this magazine cover for Krista's impromptu photo shoot today. We had a super fun and busy day with our sidewalk sale. Linda, Krista and I totally enjoyed how so many people made the effort to dress up, to go shopping today, and we admired so many of the outfits of the fashionistas that stopped by. In between all the fun I did a photo shoot with Krista. Krista is the owner of Krista Lynn Makeup Artistry and KL Digital Marketing. She has been a past volunteer that did both make-up and modeling for our downtown fashion shows, that our local fashion community organized and volunteered as fundraisers for important needs in our local community. Thanks so much Krista for stopping by. She makes a great cover girl.

We are starting to turn the shop into fall. While we don't want to let go of summer, embracing the warm colors of fall makes it easier. A few new toss cushions, some fall silk leaves and a cozy throw are easy additions. We also have fall colored pillar, taper candles and tablecloths . We just hung these mustard velveteen drapes and added some of our fall favorites. The bedding is a linen quilted duvet cover, so you can use it as a quilt, and in the winter, add a duvet into the pocket. . We will be working on new displays for fall next week, so try to pop by. Our new fall fashions are starting to arrive, and there are still lots of great deals for our extended Summer Soiree Sale (20 - 60% off) selected fashions. Purses, shoes and scarves are on for 20% off until the end of the month, (Monday).

We have lots of masks right now for youth and children. We also have lots of different ones for adults, and we will be receiving another shipment from Poland with the silver in the fabric to prevent the build up of bacteria, inside the mask. They will be coming for the youth size, and restocked shortly for the adult size. Find us downtown, next to the bridal shop, open at 11:00 am Monday - Saturday.

Hats off to Brooke, with one hat styled three ways - the Panama hat is a summer classic, and we have several of them all on sale right now, including white, navy and the beige one she is modeling. Brookes outfits and shoes are available at the shop as well. We just got a request asking about summer hats that are adjustable for smaller heads, (because the wind blowing you hat off is no fun) so I am including them on this post as well. Note, our Panama hats are not adjustable.

Our annual Summer Soiree and sale this year is different than last year. We are not having a one evening event, but rather, spreading out our sale over several weeks. We have no live music across the street, no drinks with little umbrellas, and no buffet of yummy snacks.
