Casting on a new sweater in @crookedkitchenyarn "Fishgold" mohair held together with "Nanny's Linen" Merinoh. Just look at the halo on that fabric! ... Also I can't believe I'm at page 100 of my favourite notebook. A handmade @maclellanbooks / @phidonpens linen-covered dot grid book with smooth paper that takes fountain pen ink so beautifully. What else would you use to prototype new top-down yoke algorithms;) I think the quality of my stationary has a measurable effect on the accuracy of my calculations...... #indydyer #designprocess #knittersofinstagram #handknit #slowfashion #shoplocal #cbridge #galtlove @ Cambridge, Ontario

Apparently it is possible to finish #knitting a fingering/sport weight cable sweater. The yarn is from @nilssenpabryggen in Norway (present from @aurelius.white on one of his trips there), and pattern is Aisling by Jaclyn Zifos. It took less than a year! With many other projects in between. I rarely knit other peoples' patterns without heavy modification, so that I can to achieve the best match to my own tastes and shape. In this case I kept the cable pattern but modified all other shaping (slightly.) @sandnesgarn yarn never disappoints. And hint... @galt_houseofyarn carries many of their yarns, locally. #knittersofinstagram #slowfashion #handknit @ Cambridge, Ontario

Lagavulin 8, a #knitting project in which BOTH colours happened to be called "Opal".. and a cat butt. Another good yarn/whisky pairing:) Pattern is the Harmony Hat by Andrea Cull (my first ladderback colourwork!) And yarns are Knitpicks Palette in "Opal" and my own #dawnorchid Stellina dyed in "Opal Flame" #knittersofinstagram #whisky

Knitting a sweater seems so quick, while the Finishing takes so long. I just finished sewing the buttons and ribbon onto this cardigan and it took me 2 evenings! The gros-grain ribbon keeps the button bands from curling under and from gaping between buttons. It's worth the extra effort to me as a personal pet peeve is gaping button bands on my sweaters. This is a design I probably won't write up, as I feel it needs some tweaks but I may take another go at it and we shall see! The yarn is a pleasure to work with: a fingering weight Cotton/alpaca yarn from @lllimani called "Sabri". It makes a lovely soft fabric and has plenty of elasticity for a cotton blend. I will be using it again:) #knittersofinstagram #slowfashion #knitting @ Cambridge, Ontario

And another! This has almost become a weekly event:) This is the last release for awhile. The Hastings vest is now available as a yarn+pattern kit, or as just the pattern (links below.) You can order either online right now, or go see both samples and kits at the Galt House of Yarn booth at the #KWKnittersFair2019 next weekend!
