I am proud to announce: Producers Lounge Connect 2020. Broadcast live from @capsulevancouver, I will be hosting a free online interactive broadcast 11am-6:30pm ...(PST) on November 21, 2020. Featuring headlining producers @sylvia_massy (Tool, Prince, Johnny Cash) and @eboniesmithmusic (Ms. Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Janelle Monae), this online intensive is a COVID-era incarnation of the Producers Lounge, a Vancouver-based creative workshop and conversation series I curate, in its second season, elevating women and non-binary identifying producers. Alongside headlining guests Sylvia Massy & Ebonie Smith, Producers Lounge Connect 2020 will showcase incredible BC producers and music industry creatives: @kinniestarr (Artist/Producer), @dawnpemberton (Vocalist/Pianist/Educator), @maryancheta (Composer/Programmer/Keyboardist), Natasha Duprey (Music Supervisor) and @swann2n (Live Audio Engineer/Tour Manager). Producers Lounge events have traditionally been available to women and non-binary identifying participants who applied for the in-studio program. Now, by popular demand, we are opening this online broadcast event to guests of ALL genders, from ALL locations, FREE of charge, to celebrate our world-class guest line-up and the fine achievements of the BC music community. Producers Lounge Connect 2020 is designed for professional and aspiring music producers and creators, however, all fans of music production are welcome to tune in. Honoured to be serving the wider community!

This past year I've had some of the most mind blowing and heart expanding musical experiences ever. Touring and recording with Moira Smiley & VOCO was definitely one of them! We had just finished our southern US tour in Mobile, Alabama. We went into the studio to begin recording an album just as the world was unravelling and Covid was erupting in North America. We sang not knowing that it would be months before any of us would sing again. It was surreal. One of the gems of th...e tour was this hauntingly beautiful song called "The Call" written and arranged by Gregory Fletcher. It brilliantly employs vocal drones, loops, audible breaths, body percussion, and searing solo lines to remind us of the tenderness of our humanity. It calls us away from the inherited instinct to ‘other’. It asks us to heed all that we share as humans on this single, finite planet and to act against the destructive behaviours and systems that affect us all. It's performed here by Gregory Fletcher (bass), Jake Asaro (tenor), Dawn Pemberton (alto), Karla Mundy (soprano), Moira Smiley (soprano).
