I’ve been asked ‘how the heck did you get up at 4:30am to get to Camp today after a busy weekend running a symposium?? Well today we worked with children who ha...ve lost a loved one. Some lost a parent, parents or a sibling. Many lost them to suicide, accidental overdose or tragic accident or illness. A pain and hurt that is unimaginable to me. Today they spent time with horses, connecting, building confidence, resilience and finding their voice...critical life skills that will help them navigate these troubled waters. Today a little girl who arrived silent and stood back in time took the lead, guided her partner and commanded respect from a horse. She returned in the evening full of life and ideas and actually led our safety demo for the group. Today a little boy was doing amazing work with his horse, they were connecting. Until she accidentally stepped on his toe. His toe sore and heart broken he left the program. Tonight he surprised us by returning, taking the lead rope and loving every minute of it. He pushed through. He started with the other horse but in the end went back to the girl that did the deed and said I don’t think I want to work near this foot again, but I can work from the other side’. He had a solution and he wasn’t going to be deterred. His heart mended and bond restored. Just 2 stories from what was a very powerful day. My heart is full. So when I’m asked how did I do it...I say ‘How could I not?’ If I had to drive all night I wouldn’t miss this. So grateful for my team here with me. Maud Revel and Brittany Harrison, thank you!! Eal symposium held at Dreamwinds in Bradford, Ontario was a huge success. There were lots of Facilitators, guest speakers, learning new exercises, fun and laughter. What a weekend to meet new people and reconnect with old friends.

Had our first session on Tuesday April 9. A great success! All participants sporting wonderful smiles, and I know the horses enjoyed the attention! Looking forward to April 16th.
