Sometimes you need to just get to the point. This evening, we are going to do that on behalf of our Jill. Jill needs a living donor willing to donate a kidney... to her from the B blood group or the O blood group. Many of you already know that Jill is unable to get good dialysis no matter what the doctors try and how they wiggle her central lines but nonetheless everyone keeps on trying. A 24 year old trooper, Jill has had many, many central line replacements. So many in fact that we have lost count. She also has had countless hospital admissions with serious infections, blood pressure issues, etc. Her fistula is not yet working and if you are keeping track, she has had 3 fistula surgeries, including one that did not happen because the cardiologists found a serious heart problem that needed to be investigated before a surgery could take place. At a meeting this week with the pre-transplant nephrologist we were asked to seek out a living donor because waiting for a donor on the list is no longer a realistic option for Jill. We are going to be launching a social media campaign in the next couple weeks but in the meantime, we are putting this message out to our family and friends in hopes that someone knows somebody with a kidney willing to make a donation to our dear Jill. If anyone would consider being a donor, please ask them to pm either Harv or myself and we will give them the information for the Southern Alberta Transplant Unit.
