Kids are so amazing and I still maintain that some of the best kids in the world attend Fun Foundations! We had a frank discussion about wearing masks during group time yesterday. We talked about how it makes things a bit different when we can’t see if someone is smiling. One of them said It’s different, but I can still see your smile, because you smile with your eyes. We asked them what else they see in our eyes. They said things like, Caring. Love. That you will keep us safe. That you think I’m special/smart. That you believe in me. That you’re happy to see me. Oh, my heart! Needless to say we were in tears! Children tend to see things that we tend to miss. If only we could see others through the eyes of a child!

Good morning! We are pleased to introduce our new classical music program beginning this month. As we all know, children love to dance and move to music. What is less known, perhaps, is early auditory stimulation by classical music, aids tremendously in the development of neural pathways in the cortex of the brain. In particular, the part of the brain that deals with math and logic. It also dramatically improves learning and reading skills. During the month of January, w...e will begin exploring the linear music of Mozart. From there we will go on to introduce Vivaldi, slowly adding his melodic touch to the linear. We will introduce each composer and music style as we learn them, paying close attention to each child’s learning curve and pace our lessons accordingly. We will still be learning the music basics of tempo, rhythm, musical instruments, singing, movement and tonal elements. In addition, we will be incorporating the classical music study to add depth and dimension. Our music class will still be held every Thursday. See more

Learning is fun! Yesterday we made snakes while exploring the letter Ss. We searched for objects around the classroom that were the biggest, measured rice, practiced our writing and tracing, and had a lot of fun creating the biggest coconut tree we’ve ever seen on our classroom wall! I wonder what we’ll discover today? Whatever it is, it’s sure to be fun!

We are having loads of fun in our new location! We made pumpkins for our Pumpkin Patch, coloured, painted, sorted evergreens, acorns and leaves, sang songs and read books about fall. We will be in our new location Monday, September 28th. So excited for the larger space for our Preschool Program!

Preschool starts tomorrow and will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 -3. We are open 6-5:30 to make drop off and pick up times more flexible. See you then!

We will be kicking off our 2020/2021 school year beginning September 8! Full preschool, pre-k and Kindergarten curriculum will be implemented as well as developmental milestone activities and developmentally appropriate practices. Your child will enjoy our hands-on science and interactive math. We are super excited for this new year of discovery and we hope you are too! Preschool through Kindergarten will run from 8am-3pm.
