Hi Everyone! Changes were made to CEBA yesterday to include sole proprietors, this is a big win! You may have payroll under $20,000 but you still need to have a Federal Business Number, have filed your 2018 or 2019 taxes and you need to prove that you have between $40k and $1.5million in eligible, non-deferrable expenses. https://pm.gc.ca//prime-minister-announces-expansion-suppo

Hey Everyone, the Regional Recovery and Relief Fund was announced today. I'm working on applications now so I'll be updating the blog with the information once these are finished. Hello everyone! The government has been busy the last few weeks updating and creating new programs to help you through the pandemic. I've updated the blog on these new programs and provided some highlights below. CERB... The biggest change here is for the self employed. The $1000 you earn is after business expenses. Therefore you can take in more money than that to pay basic business expenses such as rent, power, utilities. The $1000 only reflects money that you have taken from the business as income. Changes on this are effective now. Canadian Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance Program This program is new and in partnership with the provinces. The government is providing forgivable loans to cover 50% of the commercial rent for a small business. Remaining 25% covered by the renter, 25% covered by the property owner. Mid May application date. In Nova Scotia: The Small Business Credit and Support Program This is providing loans of up to $25k for small businesses that are not eligible for the Federal Government $40k loans. The loans are guaranteed by the province. The payroll threshold means you have paid payroll of under $20k in the previous fiscal year and you have seen a drop in revenues of 15% in March and 30% in April, May or June. Applications are going live for this on April 29th. Check the blog for more details! https://www.daytoday.finance//financial-support-during-cov

Day To Day Finance 21.05.2020

Hi everyone. I just wanted to provide an update that I am travelling home to Canada today at 3pm barring any additional changes. As soon as I return home I'll be wrapping my head around all of the stimulus packages that will be available to small business and the self-employed and then reaching out to each of you to explain in full detail. My first glance at these packages provide hope but I still think there will be more work to do. I'm your advocate here so let me help y...ou any way that I can. Cross your fingers I get across the border today!

Day To Day Finance 19.05.2020

Hey all! I'm sure you've read by now that Trudeau has heard loud and clear that the CERB is not covering a certain portion of the population. Details are emerging around those who have reduced hours being able to apply. There is minimal information at this time but I will update as they come.

To all of my valued clients: You may not know that I had travelled out of the country for a family vacation on Tuesday. Obviously, the situation globally has changed drastically since that time. I am currently here in Barbados and unable to get a flight home until Thursday of this week. We have been reassured that we will not be left here and flights are continuing to arrive from Canada to Barbados daily (?!). There are currently no cases, presumptive or otherwise here. I wi...ll be self quarantining upon my return for the recommended two weeks. Due to this, all scheduled meetings are currently cancelled until further notice. I will reach out to schedule a time for an online screen share in order for us to keep moving your projects along. Work will be continuing as normal, the only benefit to a cloud service company in this uncertain time. I understand that this is a stressful time for you all. Small businesses operate on already small margins. If you have any questions or concerns about your current situation, please do not hesitate to reach out. I’m here to support you. Stay safe, and wash your hands.

Day To Day Finance 05.05.2020

It’s been a hard few weeks for all of my clients. Each one has had their own struggles but none have been harder hit than those in the personal services sector. Mandated closures and lack of information left them in the dark. I’ve been working extremely long days since I got back to take care of everyone. I’ve shed a few tears out of fear, frustration and sadness. Then a magical fairy dropped by. The beauties at Nurtured Salon & Spa delivered a token of their appreciation. Even during this unsure time for them they are thinking of others. Thank you Jillian Burns and team for thinking of me. To all of my clients, you will get through this and I’m here to help you. I know it’s uncertain times and it’s not over yet, but we’ll come out on the other side better than ever. Stay strong.

Day To Day Finance 27.04.2020

Hi everyone, I have spoken up the line with the MP's office and have been given the following update. AT THIS TIME, in order to qualify for the CERB, you can not collect ANY income. This is obviously not the answer I want to be delivering to you all, but it is the answer I've been given. If you have a part-time job, reduced hours or significant reduction income, this does not make you a qualifier. However, do keep in mind that they are keenly aware now that the CERB is missi...ng a massive section of the population. I have spoken on your behalf and hope it falls upon the right ears. It is possible that in the coming days and weeks Parliament may redesign the criteria or that a different program will be announced. I've also been reassured that if any new information comes to light on the qualifications of this program then I will be contacted. Please know I continue to be your eyes and ears during this time. Stay strong.

This last year I’ve been introduced to the most fierce and brave women in this community. Each one of them are taking on change. May we continue to build each other up and support each other along our journeys. #iwd2020

Day To Day Finance 16.04.2020

Hey everyone! I've received quite a few messages today about the CERB and $0 income eligibility. It was my impression that to qualify for this money you needed to have $0.00 of income. Given the few scenarios that some of you have presented to me, it's clear there are still many questions to be answered. I'm doing my best to find out as much information as I can. Stay tuned.

For all applicable clients: The Payroll Remittance subsidy by the federal government has been upped from 10% to 75%. This has been implemented through automation on your payroll solutions already. This will push the maximum up for every employee to provide some relief during this time. Additional stimulus for business clients will be available from the federal government through government loans. Announced today there are guaranteed $40k loans available for application to bus...inesses. These loans are interest-free and have $10k included which can be forgivable. They are indeed still loans that need to be paid back but it is assistance that can be used if necessary. For general knowledge on the Canadian Emergency Relief Benefit (CERB): - This can be used to bring employee wages down to $0.00 during this time without needing to lay the employee off entirely. The employee can still volunteer to do aspects of their job but can not receive any remuneration for that work. - For any employee that has applied for EI but is not eligible, they will be automatically moved into the portal for CERB support - If you have applied for EI before March 15th and are eligible then you will remain in the EI pool I will be updating here on any information around the nuances of the CERB as it unfolds. More data on the CERB can be found here: https://www.canada.ca//introduces-canada-emergency-respons Stay tuned!

I’m late to the #internationalwomensday posts because yesterday I was disconnected. I choose to spend the day with another fierce woman and some allies practicing self love, self care and reconnection. It was brilliant. It was exactly what we all needed. We returned so full we were drunk on exhaustion. I was reminded many times throughout the day how proud I am to know so many strong, amazing women and how happy I was that we have a day we can celebrate ourselves. Cheers to that!

Big week for me! Finishing up my final days in the Marcato office. I've decided that with 2019 I'm thinking about starting my own new business. I want to start ...Day To Day Finance to help other businesses gain control of their financial futures and put the focus on their passions. I'm thinking I'll be working from home (mostly) in this cozy little spot, and hoping to take care of the much needed financial analysis and reporting that helps propel businesses forward in their growth. Would welcome you sharing this with your network and friends to gauge interest for market research! Thank you for all the love and support from my family and good friends in the steps to this next adventure! See more
