DBCS Computer 12.11.2020

A good article in Airdrie Today about the struggle of small businesses to offer local services without the ability to allow customers either on their premises and/or not being able to have them able to see, feel, touch, try before they buy. Every day we have customers calling or emailing us insisting to test a laptop/desktop computer before they buy, just as we could offer it before covid, and preferring to spend more money on amazon as it feels safer to them and as such, worth the extra cost. The author also makes a good point about customers feeling more comfortable trusting big names (it's obvious that's Amazon that's targeted there), but by doing some research on your local businesses, reading (and leaving!) online reviews, you can support local businesses, and ultimately, your community.

Just a reminder that we are still operating online-based currently due to covid. Stage 2 that started on Jun-12 doesn't make a difference to how we can operate our business, we had a few customers since yesterday trying to argue that "everything reopened", which is not technically correct, since distancing rules still apply (and even big box stores still have to limit the number of customers on their own premises), and as a home-based business, we simply cannot have customers... on our premises and comply to that distancing rule, therefore - customers still cannot be on our premises. Purchases remain online-based, either by email or from our website, and payments can be made by credit card online and etransfer. Pick ups are curbside, or we offer delivery as well. Don't drive to us and expect you will be able to get in to browse our inventory, we simply are not allowed to do that, and arguing that you drove "all the way from [place] doesn't give us a reason to break the law and put our business, customers and family at risk. The fact that "there is no case of covid in [your] community" doesn't either justify for us to break the law. All our inventory is listed on our website, with a great deal of detailed specs, and you're welcome to email us or call us if you have questions or need assistance. Once distancing rules are lifted, which our understanding will be after phase 3 - we'll be allowed to have customers back on our premises and browse our inventory in person, and check the equipment before they buy. Hope it clarifies for everyone why we are still operating under restricted covid rules :) TL;DR: we're a home-based business. We still cannot have customers on our premises even under phase 2 and 3. We apologize for the inconvenience. https://www.dbcscomputer.ca

Having trouble to get an answer from us lately? We're aware of that issue, we have been extremely busy and have to deal with over 100 phone calls a day, in addition to even more emails (in May alone, we dealt with 4,123 emails). We try our best and are able to answer most emails with the same day, and voicemails within 48 hours, although lately, we know it had been even longer sometimes. In addition to that, we had a phone and internet outage the past 36 hours, and Shaw dispa...tched 3 vans to come fix it today (3rd van was on the right of this pic). Now we have to deal with hundreds of emails and dozens of orders within the next hours, with no lunch break today, so everyone's happy! :) So in short, thank you so much for your business, please believe we do our best to answer as many requests as possible in a timely fashion, and for faster answer, email us or message us on facebook (or simply buy off our website if you don't have questions :) ).

Getting some hard to find Macbook Airs (all i7's) and Lenovo Carbons (all i5's) in stock that will be available for sale for a decent price (no, not $999+ for refurb Airs like it has been on amazon for a couple months now...). Keep an eye on dbcscomputer.ca to get them first, there will be only a handful of them :)

DBCS Computer 25.09.2020

A long 8 months after the last feature update (version 1909), Microsoft is starting to push feature update 2004 for Windows 10 starting today. It's too early to tell if it will be as smooth as 1909, and 1903, or if it will be a messy one like 1809 (when thousands of users lost their data after doing that 2018 update...but Microsoft have learnt from their mistakes, right?!). We'll be testing this update in-house (here's a screenshot from one of our machines below, we have anot...her one updating right now), and there will be plenty of reviews online too. In the meantime, it's always safer to wait a few weeks, but if you've done it already and you're having issues...we can help :) What to expect from that update? Some new features, and a stronger Windows Defender, amongst other things: https://docs.microsoft.com//whats-new-windows-10-version-2

DBCS Computer's new mascot? :) Found this bee today on our computers storage rack, offered him to hop on this laptop motherboard from our recycling box, and he immediately accepted. The kids loved to look at him real close until he was ready to fly away a good 15min later. Sometimes it's the little things that simply brighten a day of work :)
