Covid 19. We are weeks into the craziest time we have ever experienced on this planet. My friends all over the world are talking about fear and uncertainty, and how this is affecting their personal lives: some have difficulties getting food, some are in lockdown, some have to contend with social distancing, and some are having to work from home and take care of children at the same time. I've been spending a lot of time painting and reflecting. My thoughts are running fr...om despair, to fear and to the endless possibilities that could lay before us on our collective journey. We can try very hard to go back to the way things were before, but do we really want to do that - to return to a world filled with inequalities, and non-acceptance of who we really are? Or do we want to create something different? A world where all people are valued for who they are, just as they are? A world that loves and honors all creatures, and our beautiful ecosystem? The world is an incredibly magical place when you take the time to sit and watch. Let's take this incredible opportunity to make this world into a world filled with love, respect and honor for all. We can change anything - make our relationships more loving, change our agriculture to a system that regenerates soil and provides healthier food, and create communities that support each other in the best way possible. We got this..... See more

Conversations - A precious Gift The past few weeks have been surreal.....stores, businesses, even countries shutting down. Marshal law and total shut downs. Empty streets, social distancing, self isolation. Who would have ever imagined this could possibly happen? For the first few weeks, I watched what was happening as if I was watching a movie. I was out of country, in a place with elephants, monkeys and camels everywhere, and beautiful festivals - a place that is ful...l of life and vibrancy in each and every moment. No one was sick, and the only sign that something was amiss was that I was the only foreigner in hotels; in fact sometimes I was the only guest. I got daily updates from friends and family at home, but somehow it was just so far away. Suddenly things got very real, very quickly. Hotels closed and flights were cancelled, and cities were scheduled to go into lockdown. Thanks to my wonderful Indian friends, I was able to get back to Delhi and catch one of the last flights out of the country. As I sit in mandatory isolation in my home, I look back on the events of the last few weeks and it still doesn't seem completely real. I watch people from my window viewpoint walk their dogs and talk to their partners. Conversations. Real conversations. They are vital to human health. This crisis has shown how very important they are. None of us exists independently from others and we are learning that what we do affects everyone else. We are interdependent - interdependent with each other, and with the world we inhabit. We breathe oxygen produced by plants, and eat food grown from the earth that is distributed to stores by the help of many hands. The most precious gifts we have that we can share with our fellow beings are the gift of compassion and conversation. Go have a great conversation with your loved ones - in person, or via video. Tell them how precious they are, and how happy you are to have them in your life. A real conversation....do it. See more

A beautiful sunny day, people out cycling, rollerblading, playing with their kids..... It is so nice to smell the trees and flowers....isn't it? As a gardening enthusiast, I love this time of year, and wish that it could last forever. Yesterday as I sat in my garden, I decided to take a few minutes without thinking, and just BE in that lovely space. It was a wonderful few minutes......the sound of the dragonflies, the whisper of the leaves moving in the wind, and even mor...e lovely...the feeling of the warm sun on my skin. I realized that often I am so wrapped up in my thoughts of the past or the present or future that I don't even notice the little things around me. If that is true, how much of life have I missed, while I am wrapped up in my head? I challenge each of you to take five minutes and just be. Don't think, don't analyze, don't talk.....just breathe....and be....a part of the space that you are in. Awaken your mind...not the thinking one.....the be-ing one. What does that mean?? Try it.....see if you can find it. I am waiting to hear all about it....... See more
