It’s with a heavy heart that I post this..... learning about the news of Mr. Robert Hamaty’s passing has left me so sad. Captain Hamaty along with his wife Carlene founded the iconic Tortuga Rum Cake, Cayman’s biggest export. They employed hundreds of people and inspired people globally. Mr. Hamaty impacted my life more than I believe he knew. He gave me a chance and always treated me so kind. It was a privilege to know him and his family. I remember meeting his grand kids at a career fair in Cayman and I could tell how much he was loved. He was a brilliant entrepreneur and I’m not sure I’d be here today, recruiting in the Caribbean if it weren’t for him. I wish I had the opportunity to thank him properly. Sending my condolences to the whole Hamaty and Tortuga family.

As Caribbean islands begin to reopen for tourism, I wanted to share some interesting statistics I read about social media. Since quarantine "Facebook has seen a 50% increase in messaging, Instagram usage is up 40% and Twitter's monetizable daily active users has spiked 23%, source: Forbes Overall internet traffic grew by more than 40 per cent between Feb. 1 and April 19, with almost all of that increase occurring in March and April. According to the report, video streaming is... now responsible for 58 per cent of all internet traffic, while social networking (11 per cent) has displaced general web browsing (eight per cent) as the second-most-popular online activity.
