Northside Blades is always looking for new members! We are offering a ‘Learn to Skate/ Learn to Speed Skate’ program this winter, with skaters ages 4 and up. We have skates you can use or bring your own! It’s fun! Contact us for more information.
Good news! We've booked ice time this Wednesday afternoon to get a little skating in before the holidays. Hope you can make it. Please note that the number on the ice including coaches is limited to 25. Masks must be worn by everyone on ice. Unfortunately, no spectators are allowed under the current guidelines, parents or caregivers can come in to help with tying skates, but must then leave. #dartmouthcrossing #speedskating #covid_19 #wearamask #holidayseason #holidayskate #santahat #hohoho

Much of our appreciation of what we have, and how lucky we are to have it, comes from the Special Olympics athletes. I think we owe them, they don’t owe us, qu...ite honestly. We lost a Canadian sport icon and a longtime friend of Special Olympics this weekend. Over the past 40 years, Howie Meeker not only raised more than $750,000 for Special Olympics athletes, but also worked hard to change perceptions about people with an intellectual disability.
We LOVE this photo of Speed Skating Canada athletes at the Pomeroy Sport Centre in Fort St. John, BC. We can’t wait to have them back hopefully in January but until then this is a great photo!
Chris Nikic, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN! Congratulations Chris on becoming the first person with Down syndrome to finish an IRONMAN. You have shattered barriers while p...roving without a doubt that Anything is Possible! We are beyond inspired, and your accomplishment is a defining moment in IRONMAN history that can never be taken away from you. You swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles and ran 26.2 miles and now you get to brag for the rest of your life. The opportunities you have created for others around the world through this journey you embarked upon, is immeasurable. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your remarkable life story and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next. The entire IRONMAN `Ohana #onepercentbetter #anythingispossible
