Thanks to OAMHP (Formerly the OACCPP) , for featuring me on their MHP Connector Blog this week! http://ow.ly/cLaj50zlva3
Compassion fatigue can impact health care workers, but also those who support loved ones in and out of their homes as we manage COVID19 and social isolation. Today, FLEX Blogger/Therapist Jessica shares her thoughts on how we can support others & ourselves https://www.wellwednesday.ca/blog/compassion-fatigue
I have authored a lengthy article for my colleagues who are experiencing some anxiety about whether their telehealth solutions meet legal and ethical requirements. Abstract: They are! http://ow.ly/4jLq50z8JY9
My associate Jessica Danilewitz has authored an excellent blog post on managing the challenges of being isolated with (or separated from) those we love. It's an excellent post and I encourage everyone to check in for this weeks #WellnessWednesday http://ow.ly/3rd150z2bLq
As an early adopter & educator in telehealth solutions, the requests to assist other clinics in setting up an ethical, legal, efficacious telehealth solution has been an honour, but a bit overwhelming. To manage demand, we are running a $25 webinar series, including an initial training day and weekly consultative follow-ups. The first session begins this Thursday, with consultation and Q&A supports for two additional weeks. If you would like to see how we can help your clinic get online and support your clients at this time, please click the link below: http://ow.ly/s07r50yYZ5n
We've been working hard in our home to use our COVID seclusion to enrich our son's life and navigate the stress of isolation. You can Join our journey at my blog: Self-Disclosure. Today we explore imagination, play, and curiosity http://ow.ly/nYPV50yVJRQ
I will be co-facilitating our first COVID support group this Wednesday at 4pm. We will be running additional groups all week if there is demand. This is open to clients and the general public. http://ow.ly/CLqM50yRXFe
Beginning next week, FLEX will be running online support groups to assist Ontarian's in managing the stress and isolation of the COVID-19 response. This will be a low cost session that is likely covered by extended health benefits. We will be running the first group on Wednesday March 25th at 4pm, but will be running additional groups throughout the week wherever and whenever there is demand. The small fee being charged permits us to continue to pay staff during this time. Each session will include a period of facilitated open conversation and a focused psychoeducation and training element that can be easily implemented within the home. You can find out more with our flyer at: http://www.flexpsychology.ca//8169129/covid.group.flyer.pdf
I first started offering psychological services by video over a decade ago. I recognized this medium would help provide accessible care to many, and spent the next decade investing in this as a clinician, educator, and trainer. The research is clear: Tele-mental-health solutions are efficacious and provide excellent care. It supports those in remote regions, allows clients to engage in care during a busy schedule, eliminates missed sessions due to illness, and, now, will prov...ide support for Ontarian's during our need for social distancing. For the public, know that video supported treatments work, and that thousands of psychologists, psychotherapists, and social workers are standing by to help. For my clinical peers, give video work a shot. There are easy to use solutions and the technology does not have to be a barrier to serving your clients and the public need that is in front of us. Don't let the marketing of expensive telehealth solutions deter you, there is NO legislation in Ontario (PHIPA) that requires one video solution over another. No regulatory college has prohibitions in place. Solutions like Skype and FaceTime are accessible to you. I use Zoom or VSee for various reasons, but be open to what your clients want to make this transition a smooth one.
Did you know that FLEX Psychology has been a clinical leader, educator, and trainer in telehealth solutions for over a decade? FLEX's treatment team is available now to provide you with in home supports while we all navigate the social distancing response to COVID-19.
This weeks #WellnessWednesday looks at managing difficult conversations in the work place. Even as a group of therapists these sorts of conversations can be challenging. Jessica has provided great strategies that can apply to any tough conversation http://ow.ly/7L1p50ykRcM
We often tend to just sit in a negative situation and bear it. On this weeks #WellnessWednesday, FLEX staff therapist and blogger Jessica digs into Marsha Linehan's "four options" for responding to challenges. Which one of these can help you get unstuck? http://ow.ly/TDGp50yejIJ
On this weeks #WellnessWednesday, FLEX Blogger and Therapist Jessica takes a glimpse at when one may want to seek the assistance of a regulated therapist. Their guidance may be valuable earlier than you think. http://ow.ly/KGHt50y7X0v
I've been known to be forgetful once and a while. Fortunately, FLEX therapist, blogger, and stratgiest Jessica has a great post this week on how human memory works and how we can hack it to make sure the key stuff gets in and sticks around. http://ow.ly/A2AC50y2aq6
One of my staff has been taking a pottery class to extend herself and see what lessons she has learned. I'm pretty sure I would have ended accidently eating clay, but she seems to have picked up extra patience and more #WellnessWednesday http://ow.ly/4fCt50xWeOs
I'm not quite sure whether I have failed at my resolutions or not (I'm resolving to make my own blog post about this), but FLEX Blogger and Therapist Jessica does have a couple of thoughts to get me back on track for this weeks #WellnessWednesday http://ow.ly/6mj150xQceS
While it's never the wrong time to begin exploring healthy change, New Years Resolutions are the push that many of us use to get started. Fortunately, FLEX blogger/therapist Jessica has some thoughts on how we can make actionable goals and get started. http://ow.ly/xSbe50xL6VU
I remember the exact moment I came to the realization that I may have been enrolled in a covert Buddhist teachings class in high school, and boy was I thankful. You can read more about this journey on this weeks Self-Disclosure blog. http://ow.ly/8JjZ50xJBa8
As the resident editor of Wellness Wednesday, I have to accept the blame for this weeks #WellnessWednesday being two days late (#FailnessFriday?). Good thing it's a post on accepting criticism! https://www.wellwednesday.ca/blog/accepting-feedback
After a week of PAW Patrol Christmas Specials (and a little bit of baby yoda), I'm pretty ready to dig into FLEX Wellness Blogger Jessica's binge recommendation of NETFLIX's The Mind Explained #WellnessWednesday http://ow.ly/TT0a50xDrGL
It's #WellnessWednesday, which means FLEX's resident blogger Jessica is back. This week she's tackling the winter blues that burden many of us these days. There is a lot of winter left, so take a look at some techniques to make your day a bit sunnier http://ow.ly/xH7n50xxCwq
