We have been asked about our rink and "Zamboni". (Material list for Zamboni at the bottom) Our ice process starts by leveling rink area packing snow to get the air out of it. This is key. Then flooding starts with a sprinkler. Slowly layering, filling holes and getting a solid surface to do larger floods. Once ready we fill some larger water totes (move with skid steer) and empty these quickly to get the water to cover the rink and get a level surface. When the high spots ar...e covered we use our Zamboni to flood our rink. We typically only use hotwater from outside tap with this to get perfect ice. What you will need for the Zamboni. 1-3/4" schedule 40 pvc pipe 8'length cut at 4", 44" and 2- 24" 1- 3/4" pvc tee 1 - 3/4" pvc 90 2 - 3/4" pvc end caps 1 -3/4" female to tread adapter 1 - 3/4" brass female adapter to attach zamboni to garden hose or quick coupler 1 - 1/16 drill bit to drill 24" pieces approx every inch. One row only needed. 1- small can of pvc glue 2 - 4" zip ties 1- towel (make a hole in middle to slide over handle. Center towel and ziptie end to hold in place. Optional quick release for garden hose. These work great and act as a swivil so your hose doesnt twist up. Cost approx $35-40 See pics for layout How to use turn water on and let the towel soak place on ice and pull slowly letting a small pool of water build in front of the towel.
