One of the biggest concerns many people have expressed is that the COVID-19 vaccines have not been investigated in a large population. In fact, the whole world turned its attention to one common cause, and clinical trial numbers were actually very substantial, even when compared to other vaccine trials that we trust to be very safe. Coronavirus vaccines HAVE been tested in a very large population To give you an idea, Pfizer tested it's vaccine in a population of 43,651 ind...ividuals, and Moderna enrolled 30,351 participants. Participants were representative of the population. These clinical trial groups are much larger than a typical clinical trial group would be, and that is something to take comfort in knowing. While there is still much to learn about this new vaccine, it has been shown to be safe and effective. The vaccine has worked to prevent the occurrence of COVID-19 as well as diminishing the severity of infection if you do become symptomatic. What it has not yet been shown to do is prevent transmission, so while you get the vaccine to protect yourself from serious illness, it's unknown if you could still be a carrier and pass the infection on to others. This knowledge will come as we get a better understanding of how the vaccine works. Knowledge is power, so it is important to get your information directly from a verified source. Don't fall victim to accepting someone's opinion as fact. It could save your life. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact your health care professional.

Many people are asking the same questions about the COVID-19 vaccine. You're not alone! Have a look at what the Centre for Effective Practice has to say. Is it safe? Primary care providers and patients can be confident. Standards of safety, efficacy and quality have not been compromised to expedite the approval of COVID-19 vaccines. ... Did Health Canada rush to put this out? What now? Health Canada oversight of COVID-19 vaccines will NOT stop at approval. Health Canada will monitor the vaccine's safety and effectiveness now and into the future. Can we trust this technology? Isn't it too new? Research into the value of mRNA for vaccinations has been progressing for over ten years. Though the new vaccine is the first mRNA vaccine approved for humans, mRNA has been successfully used in cancer treatments. Do you have some questions of your own? Ask your healthcare provider for the most up to date information! Remember to ALWAYS consider your source. Many claims come to us from unverified sources that lead to uninformed, dangerous decisions that cause more harm than good.

Today, DCHC remembers. "Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace. We remember the more than 2,300,000 Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice." - www.veterans.gc.ca
