Farewell Ramadan Everyone in anticipation for the month of Ramadan to come, Many of us witnessed this blessed month while sadly departed some, The days in fasting, the nights in prayer, ... We reached the 27th fast layer after layer, When we ponder how fast this month went by, It only brings tears to our eyes and we hear our sigh, Reciting Quran day and night, Asking for forgiveness with all our might, Standing in qiyaam throughout the night, Hoping to please Allah doing the right, Ramadan is preparing to leave us now, Slowly bidding farewell as to Allah we bow, This month of Mercy is slipping from our hand, No matter how much we try; just like sand, The last ten nights are sadly coming to an end, Limiting our time for our investments to be send, The tears bottle up in the throat, As the anxiety of separation from this month soars, Let’s hold on tight to the rope of Allah, With hope for each one for falah! (success) Farewell Ramadan, Farewell Ramadan, Oh Allah! cleanse me and make me near, Close to You, Who knows I might not be here, To witness the month of Ramadan next year! Written by Sadia Qadri

A Heart Touching Card This card was given to me by my five year old student this morning. Recently in class with the theme of Ramadan we have been discussing in class how using good words and actions we can climb up the ladder of Jannah. I was speechless when my student handed this card to me and explained the minute details that he made in the card. One will have to look deep into the next two pictures of this card to depict the meaning. The second picture as described by... my student has me climbing the ladder of Jannah and my student following me It gives me joy yet places a huge responsibility on my shoulders for accountability as I reflect how these innocent students look up to their teachers. As teachers we need to be very careful that we do not tarnish or break their image of what we role model when we proclaim about religion and values. Students follow their teachers so deeply that it can cause to hurt them really bad leaving life long impressions if teachers are not careful. The last picture is also so adorable as he has written - the ladder to jannah. May Allah make us all climb the ladder to Jannah in Sha Allah Ameen! See more

We’re Here in Mid-Ramadan The Ramadan moon is full and bright, Reminding us as it glows in the night, Not much time is left for this month to say goodbye,... How soon fifteen days of this month of Mercy have passed by, People fasting during the day, Standing in taraweeh at night to pray, Reciting Quran and giving charity, Sitting in gatherings to understand what Allah’s words mean in clarity, We try to practice in action what through the Quran we learn, Even if it is one small thing but we should yearn, As the month is coming to an end, Our connection with Allah we try to mend, How much time each one of us has only Allah knows, Why not plant the seeds of goodness before the time goes? We hope and pray that we all benefit, Our spirituality at no cost goes in deficit, The recitation of the Quran leaves us not with mere words, In fact leaves an impact on our souls that stirs, A reawakening of the spirit to become close to our Lord, Surely this will be our victory and award! Alhamdulillah, my new book has now been published. This is for a slightly older age group - 8-13 years old. I would leave it to the readers to discover what they determine what the book might be about from the title I am refraining to give any clue as otherwise it will become very obvious

First Ten Days of Ramadan How soon the first ten days have passed by, Of this blessed month of Ramadan that makes us cry. How much we awaited for this month to come,... Many unable to witness this month; but some. We celebrate in Ramadan the gift to mankind, Allah has bestowed the Quran that we find. We fast and pray to show our gratitude, Hasten to do good deeds with fortitude. Time is running like sand from our hands, Allah knows best where each one of us stands. We plead for Allah’s Mercy during these holy days, Forgiveness we ask Him in different ways. Praying, reciting Quran and giving charity, Helping others in need without any vanity. Let us value each moment now, Indulge in good deeds and in front of Allah bow. The clock of life for each one of us is ticking around, Whose turn comes next to be buried in the ground. Let’s seek Allah’s Mercy in these blessed days and nights, Pray to Him to attain the guiding light. Written by Sadia Qadri

Ma Sha Allah the children did an awesome job in participating in saying the dua’a of breaking the fast. I was so amazed with Ma Sha Allah their participation and their curiosity with their questions at Taleem Academy.

A student of mine who is usually a very quiet one and avoids expressing himself much in class; came up to me this morning and handed me this in front of the class. He is a smart four year old and worked on this along with his older sister; who also has been my student once upon a time You can imagine when your student brings such a creative piece of writing; what it means to you. Financial compensation is surely a means of real sustenance; but what I received from the child is what I call the true compensation for me as a teacher. It keeps the spirit ignited to continue working relentlessly and passionately! Indeed these are the treasures of life that money cannot give as this comes from the heart of the innocent pure child with no motives. A gift that is priceless!

Today in Sha Allah is the first night of Taraweeh. Muslims all over the world gather and enjoin in ibadah. As educators, Allah has placed a huge responsibility on our shoulders as children look up to their teachers and they are either the ones who make them or break them. May Allah grant us the wisdom to carry on this noble task in the most beautiful and honoured way. Ameen! We need to continue to hold tight onto the rope of Allah and keep moving forward with positivity that ...He is there for us and He will take care of all our affairs. We just need to remember Him, pray to Him, kneel down to Him, plead to Him and He will surely take care of us as He loves us more than any one ever can. We all have our stories; but when I see the bigger picture- our brothers and sisters in many parts of the world - Gaza, Yemen, Rohingya and so many other parts of the world are facing the tests and trials of oppression. What I am going through; is probably not even a fraction of what they are going through! Yes, it helps when you engross yourself with those who are going with much more difficulty than you are! The month of Mercy is hours away and our opportunity to take advantage is now in our hands. Let’s together make the most of it and let’s together show the world - we want to make this world a peaceful place for all children! Wish you all a blessed Ramadan!

Tears in Prayer to Your Lord!!! As there are hours left before we enter the month of Ramadan in Sha Allah; I reflect on my memories of the past and cannot help my tears that rush from my eyes. Allah bestows us in this life with relations and either when they return back to their Lord or they abuse; do we realize that we are all by ourselves in this life. ... I was just reflecting that another Ramadan is just hours away and how we plan but who knows who might witness to experience this sacred month entirely or even be able to enter it. I recall how I used to prepare with my husband for the children every Ramadan. He returned to His Lord. Alhumdullilah children grown up trying to rejuvenate their spirit of Ramadan and all trying to develop their connection to Allah (SWT). The tears roll down my cheek with hands raised in front of my Rabb that, I have realized that I am all alone in this world. I have to prepare only my journey in this world as a traveller. All attachments of this world who I held on to; left me and so I realize that they are temporary and will leave us. Death is the only reality of this life - the rest is all temporary and deceptive . So now I only hold onto you my Rabb; because I have to come to you. You are the only one who is watching over me day and night. Tears when shed in front of your Lord gives us peace and bonds us with Allah; whereas in fact leaves us with pity of the world when shed in front of them. Very few value the tears that an eye sheds and the heart that moves with compassion. Let’s bow down in prostration to our Lord and cry out our worries and fears as we are the most closest to Him in this state. May Allah (SWT) bring this crescent moon of Ramadan with a message of rekindling the spirit of each one of us with what our Lord wants from us to enable us to be peaceful in this world and the Hereafter. Ameen!

Awaiting the Crescent Moon As we all await the blessed time, For the crescent moon in the sky to shine, The month of Ramadan is getting near, ... A blessed month that makes our eyes tear, How our Lord shows us a sign, With the advent of the month of Mercy that is divine, Our sighs and cries are to be heard, From the One who listens even to the chirp of a bird, The thin crescent moon in the dark sky, Is a sign of hope from Allah for our cry, To listen to our prayers and sighs, For the one who in prostration lies, Do not fear and cry my dear, For the month of Mercy is near, Our Lord will heal our aches and pains, When the world has caused us strains. The blessings of this holy month In which the gift of Quran was sent for us. How little do we take heed from this, Which if we follow has a life full of bliss. We memorize only in words and fuss, To live it in action, is what is expected of us. How many Ramadan months have come and gone? Each year we go through and how much do we bond? Let’s take advantage as it arrives again, As none of us knows how long shall we stay on this life’s journey to gain. - Written by Sadia Qadri
