Tradition #5: SWEET AVOCADO If you think avocado toast is weird, you have no idea what else is possible for abacates... This humble fruit has taken the health world by storm, often being eaten with salads or on toast sprinkled with an assortment of incredibly healthy toppings, yet Brazilians like their avocado sweet and it is often consumed as a smoothie with full-fat milk, sugar and, sometimes, honey too. ... Tradition #3: LUNCH IS THE BIGGEST MEAL OF THE DAY! And everything revolves around it. This is something we miss about Brazil but have a hard time fitting in our Canadian work and lifestyle. ... Lunches are sacred in the Southern Hemisphere, and some folks are even lucky to go home for an hour to hour and half to sit down with their families before going back to work in the afternoon. Others can even fit in a quick soneca, Portuguese for nap. #jealous School sessions are either morning (7:30am-12pm) for older children or afternoon sessions (1:30-5pm) for the younger ones. Since we are now speaking traditional design we thought we’d share with you some Brazilian traditions you probably never heard of, because really, what do Canadians learn about Brazil except for what’s in the news and what their Brazilian friends tell them? 1) HOSPITALITY IS EVERYTHING!!! Brazilians will drive you everywhere to show you their town and tourist attractions. Brazilians will even invite you to their beach house or cottage the first time they meet y...ou.
