Thank you to all my wonderful neighbours who were sympathetic to my situation when I went to the store today and met with the claims adjuster. My heart felt less heavy because of your encouraging words and the good wishes you expressed as you walked by. I feel especially grateful to my interior designer Susan Taubensee, who responded immediately and will make my store beautiful again, as she did when I opened 20 years ago and again during last year's renovations. Dear Valued Della Optique Patients, After careful consideration, I have made the decision to close the clinic starting March 20,2020. Our tentative reopening date is April 6, 2020. I intend to monitor the situation closely and follow the recommendations of the Health Ministries and Centre for Disease Control.... I feel that it's my social responsibility to safeguard our patients, employees and all who are involved with the operation of my small business. As 80% of transmission is from asymptomatic carriers, I feel that social distancing is the most effective preventative measure. In addition, and so as to protect yourself, this is my recommended Hand Hygiene Protocol: 1. Remember to wash your hands before touching any part of your face, eyes or eye drops. 2. Assume every surface could be contaminated as the virus can reportedly survive for up to 72 hours on certain surfaces. This includes public surfaces, door handles, elevator buttons, washroom taps, etc. Please don't touch these surfaces with your bare hands. Use your sleeve, or carry paper towels for this purpose. Wash your hands immediately if unsure. It has been a challenging time, and I thank you for your understanding and patience.
