Always great when your neighbour comes and helps you on his new computer build! Renewed some life into this HP Compaq Desktop with a fresh install of Win 10 Pro, and upgrade to an SSD and double the original RAM. We also took his aging HP Pavilion 2000 Laptop and maxed it out to 8GB RAM, replaced the WiFi card with an dual WiFi and Bluetooth card, and took out the slow old Hard Drive and opted for a much faster SSD. Just under 4 hours of work to get him up and going!

Finally got a couple hours to start upgrading the work bench. The unfinished OSB was hard to work on, full of splinters and simply ugly. Some spare arctic grey laminate is the new work surface, adding modern flair and a smooth easy to see working surface.

Always get a second opinion if you are told your laptop or desktop is non-repairable or the cost of repair is absurdly high. I encourage each of my customers to always seek a second opinion as well. I stand behind my work, and if there is something to be learned, Im willing to learn it!

Well this laptop was a fun surprise. It was thrown away because the power adapter no longer worked. Its been sitting in my cupboard now for a couple years, and I finally got around to opening it up. Turns out the plastic tabs holding the power adapter in had broke. I move the adapter back to where it was supposed to be, rebuilt some tabs and glued it in place. Plugged the power cord in and voila. Getting a fresh Windows 10 installation, a good physical clean throughout and on the market.

Looks like Ive got myself a little helper!

Although it seems unfortunate, sometimes the cost of upgrading a PC is just as much as I can sell a refurbished one with a newer, more future-proofed upgrade path. That was the reality for this customers 12-year old Dell desktop. It was getting pretty slow, so I swapped it out for a quad-core HO system I had built a few years ago with a bigger hard drive and more RAM for the same cost as my labour and parts to upgrade this one. Now this one can get parted out and meet its final resting ground.

Its the small things sometimes! Just before wedding season this summer, I had concerns over feedback and the the quality of my audio. After seeing the rats nest I had been dealing with, and the inferior quality cabling/splitting I was doing with RCA connections, I upgraded all my connections to 1/4 phono audio cables. Not only did this clean up my system substantially aesthetically, but my using the pass through on my amps, I eliminated the need for any splitting, and reduced my audio feedback to a minimum. I also rebuilt my rack to accommodate a more modern Behringer 12-Channel FX mixer for even better audio quality and precise mixing control.

What a great time we had Friday! I volunteered as the DJ an MC for the Crestomere Play school Halloween Dance fundraiser. Never seen kids so happy and dancing their little feet off!
