When selling this home, we had many discussions about what to do with the bathroom - should we leave it as is and have the new owners make the changes they want or do we update some of the elements or start all over. Hey! Move over faux fiddle fig tree, the faux olive tree wants it’s time in the spotlight! I still love the large vibrant green leaves of the fiddle fig tree, however I’m liking the subtle colouring and more delicate leaves of the olive tree. Olive branches also work great in vases. Did you know that only 10% of people can visualize the potential in a space. When buyers are looking at a home, very few can see beyond what they see in front of them. It’s hard to picture the best furniture layout or what the walls will look like in a different colour or with less furniture or different window coverings Home staging makes it easier for potential buyers to visualize a property as their next home by creating those emotional connection points throughout the home.

When home staging, it’s important to understand the potential buyer for the neighbourhood. In this home a young family was the target buyer, so this den was transformed into a bedroom.

If you (and those living with you :)) can follow this adage, you will save time looking for things and hopefully have a happier household. Group like items together that have a similar purpose and place them as close as possible to where you will use them. When you are done with the item, then put the item back in its place. Try to avoid placing items in a just for now location!

In this kitchen nook the seller had artwork and stools, however the scale of the pieces did not fit the proportions of the room. Adding more colour and larger pieces made the difference.

With home staging, we often ask the homeowner to move or remove furniture -- and then we see the dreaded rug divot where the furniture has crushed the rug fibres. Fear not. Here is an easy fix: Place a large ice cube in the middle of the divot. Wait 4-5 hours, blot with a clean cloth and then use a spoon to pick up the fibre. Voila!
