Balance Wholistic Centre 23.09.2020

Good day to all! I have had some questions in regards to the waiver that I am sending out prior to your massage treatment. I have had a few people ask me about seasonal allergies and although I understand that it is typical for many people this time of year, at this time, I cannot agree to see clients if they cannot sign the form about being symptom free. I appreciate your understanding during these transition times. -Denise

Just a reminder for upcoming appointments of the new standards of practice. New Location: 885 6th Street East Parking available: Driveway... New Hours of Operation: Sunday Thursday, 11:00am 5:00pm New Standards of Practice: Clients should attend appointments alone and not bring along partners or children as there is no waiting area available. Clients should arrive no more than five minutes before their appointment time. If clients arrive more than 5 minutes early, clients are asked to wait in their vehicle until their scheduled appointment time. The practitioner will be wearing a mask during treatments and gloves when necessary or requested by the client. Clients are asked to wear a mask during their treatment until the current restrictions have been lifted. Medical masks are available for clients to use if they do not have their own. There will be no face massages being offered during this time. In order to accommodate physical distancing and appropriate time for cleaning, there will be 30 minutes scheduled between each appointment. During transactions, if possible, payments will be accepted through contactless methods such as e- transfer to [email protected] or pay via invoice. The practitioner will be available for a few minutes after each appointment to discuss the treatment plan as well as to accept in-person payments. I ask that clients do not linger after their appointment to allow proper cleaning time before the next scheduled appointment. There will be a limit in the exchange of papers such as receipts therefore an emailed copy of the transaction will be sent. Shared areas used by multiple clients such as chairs, the point of sale machine, door handles, light switches and washrooms will have increased cleaning and disinfection. When booking appointments, clients should be reminded to reschedule if they become sick or are placed on self-isolation. Clients will be screened prior to their appointment by asking if they are ill or symptomatic. A waiver form will be emailed prior to their treatment and will be required to be filled out and returned. There will be no massage services performed on ill or symptomatic clients. Common contact surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Sheets, towels or any other items contacting a client will be discarded or properly laundered between each use on the highest temperature setting possible to promote a safe and hygienic work environment. All clients should self-monitor for symptoms and use the self-assessment tool available at saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 I sincerely thank you for your assistance and co-operation. Denise Haugen

I am so excited for May 19th to arrive, when I am able to reopen my practice and give treatments once again. We have all undergone enormous changes during these times. The closure of schools and childcare facilities being one that most of us can relate to. To accommodate these changes, I have moved my practice into my home. Emotions = Energy movement. Unexpressed emotions is energy that is trapped inside. Moving around, bouncing, jumping, deep breathing are all simple ways to get the stagnant blood flow moving. This is a great documentary!

Here are some of my top tips for head and neck pain, tension, headaches and migraines. 1. Stop pushing your tongue behind your teeth. Stop pushing it on the roof of your mouth. Relax your tongue by letting it hang in your mouth. Do not be alarmed by the tingling sensation if it happens. Relax your jaw, let your mouth hang open slightly. 2. In a standing position, with your feet facing forward and with your arms at your side, push your shoulder blades into your back with fin...gertips pushing towards the ground. Relax your shoulders, neck and head then breathe. 3. Reciprocal Inhibition. When the posterior muscles of the neck are tense, flex the anterior muscles by making a double chin. The inion is the small bump in the back of your head. Envision a string pulling it up towards the sky, pulling your neck back and head up. Dont forget to breathe. This small movement forces the suboccipitals (at your neck hairline) to relax. Create balance between the opposing muscles tension and breathe to release it. Do not force it. You will not allow the release until you stop forcing it. 4. Peppermint oil, or any mint based ointment, on the back of the neck at the hairline and into the hair a little bit. Massage in a small, circular motion. 5. Get a warm, wet towel and place it behind your neck and over shoulders. Cover the wet towel with a dry towel that is larger than the wet one. #staysafe #staystrong

Ayurveda teaches us that the mind mirrors the breath. Control steady breathing correlates to a calm, well-ordered mind. Turbulent, disturbed breathing is a reflection of an anxious, disordered mind. When we learn to regulate our breath, we are able to influence both our physical and emotional states. Starting each morning with a breathing exercise helps us to move through the day feeling more grounded, balanced and clear headed. Heres an exercise to get you started in the ...morning: 1. Place one hand on the belly, relaxing the abdominal muscles. 2. Slowly inhale through the nose, drawing air into the bottom of the lungs. Feel the abdomen rise, then the rib cage. 3. Pause for a moment. 4. Exhale out of the mouth gently from the top of your lungs toward the bottom. 5. At the end of the exhalation, draw your belly button towards your spine, pushing any residual air from the bottom of the lungs. See more

Self care time includes looking for the positive things in your life to be grateful for. Along with the not so positive things, be thankful for the lesson.

This is the best hand washing example I have seen. Make sure to show your children. Take care!

After receving an email from the Natural Practitioners Association of Saskatchewan, they have strongly recommended we suspend our practice for a minimum of 2 weeks, then to reassess the situation at that time. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at (306) 961-9165. Best regards, Denise Haugen, RMT

New Massage clients are now being accepted! Initial appointments are 90 minutes in length which include an in depth assessment (postural analysis assessment, gait analysis, sleep evaluations, stress management, breathing techniques, mindfulness exercises, body mechanics and ergonomics) as well as a Massage treatment that consists of a combination of unique techniques such as Myofascial release, reiki, reflexology, advanced stretching, and sports massage. Clients have reporte...d that my treatment is considered a Deep Tissue massage while coming across as relaxing because of the slow technique and patience that is involved with every treatment. Many clients feel invigorated with a natural high before they leave. Please text me at (306)961-9165 to book your appointment! In the meantime, I invite you to read my reviews on my booking page at: https://www.massagebook.com/Prince_Albert~Massage~Denise-Re
