Just saw a pod of 4 (maybe 5) Orcas go right through Tofino Habour; my guests who had just hiked the Big Tree Trail on Meares Island were 'Thrilled'!

Sunset in Tofino Aug. 5/18; beautiful!

Beautiful Sunset a few days ago near Lennard Island in Clayoquot Sound Vancouver Island Canada.

Funny thing happened the other day. I had a mid-day drop-off to the west side of Ahous Bay on Vargas Island. Some locals were going to hike the 5 minute trail from the very protected landing site known as 'The Fingers' to an exposed beach locally called 'Little Baja Beach'.and I was taking them in my Mexican built 22' Panga boat. My guests had brought their boards as the beach has an excellent surf break, their plan was to ride the waves for approx 5 hrs until a little aft...er high tide. Not long after that I had another drop-off on Ahous Bay, this time to the south side of the bay. About 1/3rd of my way back to Tofino I decided to put the anchor down in a fairly calm spot and nap/chill-out until it was time to get the surfers. After snoozing approx. 2 hrs I awoke and had a look beyond the rocks that sheltered my boat from the open ocean and noticed a pod of Orcas going buy. I then went to the pickup site to see if the surfers were ready to go early that they too might be able to experience the Killer Whales. Unfortunately, they weren't early and when they did appear (right on time) it was much to late to catch up with the Orcas; so I never mentioned a thing about it to them. See more
