Dentique Paintless Dent Repair 20.02.2021

This 2016 Porsche Cayenne came to Dentique with a horrible skin condition. Never have I seen a vehicle with polishing swirls this bad. The poor owner was so embarrassed to drive the vehicle in the sunlight that he was just going to get rid of it. Though I’ve not experienced this feeling of regret personally on a vehicle I’ve owned, I can 100% guarantee, I would have felt ill every time I looked at the paint. The solution involved about 3 hours or prep washing including was...hing and degreasing the entire vehicle, using fallout remover and clay barring the paint to remove those tiny little particles that stick to your paint and make it feel like sandpaper. This in and of itself was a fair bit of work, but the amount of polishing time required was by far the back breaker. We started with a heavy cut to remove the swirls caused during two previous polishing attempts, and then followed up with a medium compound and a final polish. This process clocked in at a further 25 hours of work. Following this the entire vehicle was wiped down with Isopropyl Alcohol in preparation for the final step. I would like to take an opportunity here to thank Dave Adrian from Car Brite for all his help with this job. It’s good to have friends who are willing to just jump in and lend a hand with no questions asked. To help this beauty maintain her shiny appearance for a great long time, we applied a coat of System X Ceramic Paint Sealant. The ceramic sealant goes on as a liquid and is removed as the product dries. The application time in this case was approximately 3 hours. The Total time elapsed from start to finish was roughly 31 hours. The resulting depth of color and shine was worth the time spent according to the proud owner, and hopefully he is no longer embarrassed to take his baby out in the sunshine. When the Porsche first arrived, the swirling was so bad it appeared that the vehicle was just jet black but, imagine the owners surprise when he found out it’s actually metallic black with blue and silver flake in the paint. Pictures don’t quite do justice to the visual effect of the metallics. Her are a few photos and videos documenting before and after. The before shots should be self explanatory I believe.

Every once in a while I get a customer vehicle in for repairs that I'm just not sure I can repair. This particular Subaru's front fender was one such repair. The crease extended from front to back on the fender and was quite sharp and was a bit shapely. Given the amount of stretched metal I was not sure I could shrink the dent back to its original form. Repairs took nearly the entire day but the customer was VERY happy with the results. When the job at hand just looks like it's smiling at you, and saying quietly, "You CAN do it!" Sometimes you just have to stretch your own limits and give it a try. What the heck, it's only time, right ?

Every once in a while we have a customer with a dent in their vehicle that just seems, well, questionable shall we say. Sometimes there are jobs that are better left to the body shop that are either just too greatly distorted or as in this case, just oppressively large. There are jobs I take on here at Dentique Kelowna that we can and can't do, and should and maybe should not do. This might have been one of the latter. I do like a challenge though so I figured why not, let's put my 23 years of skill to the test. Turned out pretty darned good if I do say so myself and I think the customer will be more than pleased. The damage to the rear door of this Mercedes was, as you can see, fairly small. After many hours of frustration and perseverance, VOILA, no more dent. Can you see a difference ??

Being a fellow motorcycle enthusiast I understand the pain that goes along with seeing a dent in your baby. Even worse is seeing a dent in the amazing airbrushed artwork on the fender of your bike that has a scuff and scratch associated with it to add insult to injury. Following is a short video showing the dent. Motorcycle fenders can be a bit more difficult to repair, though not impossible for sure, as they are slightly thicker gauge metal. Another thing you need to be careful with is thickness of paint. Most airbrushed work typically has more clear coat applied to allow room for sanding and polishing to a high gloss.

Well today was the delivery of a vehicle for a great customer named Terry. I've repaired a number of vehicles for Terry over the years but this one was a little special. Why special you ask?? Well, normally I do mostly dent repairs, and I did repair a few, but this low mileage 2007 Maserati had suffered a bit from exposure to the elements. This particular job was more about bringing back the shine and returning the sparkle to the exterior. Numerous steps including fall o...ut removal, use of a clay bar to remove surface contaminants, wet sanding the vehicle, and a 3 step polish and paint sealant. A lot of work to be sure, but Terry commented the car has never looked this good. He was truly amazed at the reflective quality and depth of color for a silver automobile. I have done some high end vehicle detailing before but I myself am really happy with how the paint turned out on this gorgeous car. Thanks Terry for the opportunity to return the shine and shimmer to such an amazing vehicle. May it light up your life for years to come.
