Hello Dentistry on West family. As you likely have seen, the provincial guidelines have changed so many dental offices are opening up again for elective care. Here at Dentistry on West we are still addressing emergencies and urgent issues but are not yet ready for other procedures (like your hygiene visits). We are in the process of rebuilding our PPE (protective gear) supplies after donating to the hospital. We are also making some changes to the office space to make thin...gs safe for everyone. I anticipate that we should be ready for elective care at the start of July. We will be sending out a notice once we have a definite date. Pre-booked appointments for this period are considered postponed until further notice (which we will hopefully give soon). Those of you who have email addresses but haven't given them to us, could you send us a quick note with your name, number and email address to [email protected] In the meantime, we are hoping to increase the amount of urgent care we can deal with shortly. Some of the changes before and during your appointments you can expect : 1. Screening questions at booking or the day before your appointment. 2. Screening questions when you arrive for your appointment as well as temperature check. 3. Bring a mask or mouth covering to your appointment. If you don't have one, one will be provided for you. 4. Patients only will be allowed inside with the exception of a parent for a small child or helper for disabled patient. 5. Please wait in your car until we call you in. 6. Attention patients, Ontario emergency orders have been extended until June 2. Likely this means that we will not be reopening until at least mid-June if not July. In the meantime, Dentistry on West continues to be available for emergency consultations for our patients. Please call our office to get in touch with the dentist covering for the week. You will be screened to determine whether the case falls under urgent/emergency care parameters and whether it is something tha...t can be managed by phone. For inactive patients, there may be a fee for this consultation. We are restricted to seeing patients for non-aerosol generating procedures only. This may include exam, radiographs, fluoride or desensitizer application, placement of temporary fillings or (re)cementing crowns. We are not doing extractions, root canals and conventional fillings at this time. For emergency visits, you will be pre-screened for possible COVID-19 exposure before being given an appointment. Please check your temperature before your visit. We are seeing only one patient in the office at a time, so please wait outside until called in. Contact free payment is preferred over cash. If the parking lot looks busier than expected, we have noticed unknown vehicles left overnight. If this happens to be your vehicle, please refrain from parking at the front. If you have an emergency that potentially requires aerosol production - extraction, root canal or permanent filling, we are referring patients over to West Ridge Family Dentistry where they can manage those cases. Dear patients. Recently Orillia Matters did a little piece on dental offices in Orillia. Most of the content is accurate - we all would love to get back to work but with government has extended emergency orders to May 19th so likely won't be at least until June. Dentistry's governing body Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario is working hard on guidelines of what protective measures will need to be in place for that to happen. One statement I want to clarify is abou...t hygiene appointments. They are critical to your health - what will likely happen is that we will not be able to do the polishing part (paste or spray) of those appointments initially as they generate a lot of aerosol. The removal of calculus deposits via scaling to reduce inflammation is the important part of your appointment, the polishing is not as critical to your oral health. See more
