So proud to have co-sponsored the presentation of the book "Land of Triumph and Tragedy: Voices of the Italian Fallen Workers" by Paola Breda and Marino Toppan at the Società Caruso last night. The volume documents the history of Italian emigration to Canada with the success stories alongside the stories of the hardships and tribulations that emigrants had to endure in order to give their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren a better future. There is an entire section dedicated to the Sudbury Italian community and their great contribution to the the labour force of our city.

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, Laurentian University and the Società Caruso Culture and Education Committee will be hosting Mario Toppan and Paola Breda as they present their book on the history of Italian immigration to Canada with a focus on the hardships and the accomplishments of the Italian community in Canada.The talk is free to attend and it will take place on Monday, December 9th, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Heritage Hall at the Società Caruso.
