Derry Heights Animal Hospital 14.11.2020

Dear clients; we will be closed all weekend from 8pm Friday October 2nd until after 9am Monday October 5th, 2020 due to unexpected extenuating circumstances. We will also have reduced hours Wednesday October 7th (curbside pickup only; no appointments available) as the vet is not available that date either. And, we will be closed a couple days for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday so we encourage you to plan ahead for food & medication refills (pickups times are normally from ...~30 min after open until ~30 min before close; call ahead to pre-order / pre-pay if possible). If our phone does not allow you to leave a message (we are having issues); please email us your details at [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we are able to sometime during business hours. Hours are subject to change. Reminder: We still have have locked door policy (no clients allowed in clinic) & curbside pickup/exchanges in effect (pre-order by phone, contactless card payments, mask required). We thank you all for bearing with us during these challenging & busy times. We are working with only 1 or 2 staff a day + 1 veterinarian, reduced availability & hours, extra cleaning / safety & distancing requirements etc, & only 2 phone lines to manage a multitude of calls so staff try their best to answer phones and catch up with any missed calls to the best of their ability & appologize for delays related with evolving challenges presented by the pandemic. Everything takes longer and so much more needs to be done by phone so staff may be tied up on the other line or busy assisting a patient in clinic. We try to fit in all of our existing clients as soon as we can but the limited spots that our small clinic & limited staffing can accomodate book up quickly so often we can't get everyone in right away to see the vet as much as we truly wish we could as we love all our patients. Surgery dates are currently booked up through November at this time with the backlog from previous lockdown too. Should you have an urgent medical emergency requiring immediate veterinary attention; we encourage you to please contact the nearest veterinary emergency hospital (Burlington Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital -or- Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital are the closest). Update: Our clinic locked door policy is still in effect (no clients allowed in clinic), appointment only, and reduced hours plus some reduced services still in relation to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. By appointment only and payment taken over phone (visa/mastercard number/expiry/CVV#) due to social distancing for curbside pre-orders and appointments. Clients still stay in car to wait while staff collect pet on leash or carrier from curbside, and vet will call cell phone to sp...eak to pet owner while they wait outside. Scheduling with veterinarian is on case by case basis and depending availability on given date usually between 11am-5:30pm mon-fri and 11am-4pm sat. Please allow extra time during this pandemic as there can be delays due to more time on phones or sick pets requiring extra care, cleaning between patients, and other variables. Please call or email ahead for scheduling/service availability, and call/email ahead to order food/meds/supplies to make sure they are in stock and to arrange visa/mastercard payment on phone and curbside pickup; normally arranged 9:30am to 5:30pm mon-fri or 10:30am-4:30pm Saturday. We are closed sundays and all holidays + some holiday weekends. We will be closed Saturday May 16th evening to Tuesday May 19th morning for the Victoria day holiday and expect higher than normal call and email volumes so we thank you in advance for your patience; we only have 1-2 staff in clinic working long hours per day currently with shortages and due to safety/physical distancing for our and your safety and to be able to continue operating to help our patients can get the care they need. We have multiple staff who personally or immediate family have medical conditions that make them higher risk so we continue to practice social distancing, extra cleaning/hygiene practices in and out of clinic, use of PPE for protection, and some other some restrictions as long as needed for safety. ONCE FINISHED WITH APPOINTMENT - STAFF WILL CALL YOU FOR PAYMENT OVER PHONE WHERE POSSIBLE - THEN RETURN YOUR PET TO YOU. WE HAVE TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF APPOINTMENTS TO ALLOW MORE TIME FOR EXTRA CLEANING MEASURES AND FACILITATING NEW PROTOCOLS AND TIME ON PHONES - AND REDUCED / POSTPONED NON-ELECTIVE PROCEDURES FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS OR MORE IF NEEDED. .
