Due to deforestation centuries ago, stream banks in PEI rarely resemble their original mature Acadian forest. Instead, they are often overgrown with speckled al...der, a native species that, while having some beneficial effects, can negatively alter the flow of a stream. Watershed groups on PEI work to manage the growth of alders. Thanks to RBC and the PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund for supporting our enhancement work this summer! #streamworkmakesthedreamwork
Just a note. We had to remove the "Incorporated" designation as the group is no longer active. We are still affiliated with SSWA and are wondering if anyone in the area may be interested in representing us on their board? We are currently represented by Bonnie Rieber but there is an opening for an alternate.
