Deseronto Royal Flying Club 17.11.2020

I've been remiss in not posting from our last event at the end of September. I missed most of the event due to an injury but Angela Claus and Natalie Lebrun filled in the gap taking care of the BBQ and fundraising. It was a great day of flying according to the pilots and photos!!! Our next event, with a swap shop, is this Saturday, Halloween and will be the last of the soft water season. We may be looking at some winter events but will discuss at the event.... Feel free to dress up and as mentioned, we are going to have a swap shop. Bring your unused equipment to get rid of or bring some money for the winter project you are still deciding on. See you on Saturday, weather permitted. Forecast sunny, 7 degrees and winds in our face at 13 with gusts to 20 km/h.

What a fantastic day for flying and our events are growing! 14 pilots flew a wide variety of aircraft over our beautiful waterfront venue. Locals came down to watch and ask questions which our pilots love to talk about anything flying related. Our pilots come from all backgrounds but share the love of our hobby. Again, spouses often attend these events for the social aspect and I would like to thank Annette Baker for helping with running the event. Also would like to thank... Walter and John Smith for helping clear out the water of weeds the day before. I didn't see anyone having problems with weeds hung up on water rudders. Well done lads! We have two more events on the last Saturdays of September and October, before soft water flying is done. However, that is a big bay and floats work on snow!

With Walter and John trying to clear out weeds in water prior to our event tomorrow. Walter designed the weed catcher on the boat and is quite the oarsman. John is wicked with a rake. Should be a lot of fun tomorrow and hopefully not many weeds in water rudder! .

We've just confirmed our next fun float fly will be this Saturday, Aug 22nd, starting at 10 am. We welcome all MAAC members and those who may want to learn how to fly and join our amazing organization. Feel free to ask questions of any of our members. We welcome public spectators while asking them to observe current health department's recommendations for Covid-19. Unless in social bubble, observe distancing, masking and other recommended practices to limit spread of the virus. See you on Saturday!
