As we move into calving, remember this tip! Newborn calves breathe best in this position! Pulling their hind legs forward, placing them up in "sternal" on thei...r chest and neck out and down allows for the best breathing! Do NOT hang calves from fences or swing them around. These actions place the weight of their organs onto the chest making it much more difficult to breathe. Remember to clean out their mouth and nose, use straw or hay up their nostril to stimulate coughing and breathing and rub your fingers up and down their back to get them going!
