The Russian government is doing a fair amount of refurbishment to buildings that were once owned by the Tsar in Russia. St. Petersburg was the home to the Russian royal family and after I visited some of their palaces, I can understand how the revolution occurred. The royals lived in utter splendour and lavished each other with homes, art work and jewellery, the likes that none of us would ever see in our lifetimes.

I was surprised to see some very modern styled buildings on the outskirts of St. Petersburg.

I was in St. Petersburg, Russia recently and could not believe the architecture, design and grandeur of all the major sights we saw. The subway station we saw was downright palatial. The level of cleanliness was astounding. Sadly, as Toronto is a very young city compared toSt. Petersburg, we don’t have a myriad of well preserved buildings going back 300 years. Take a look at this subway station....the pillars have detailed carved glasswork.

I watch the series Empire and I really like the way they showcase the interiors of the homes they feature.

Model homes definitely help builders sell their product. They also provide inspiration to other home owners who just don't know how to update the look of their current home. Home owners need to be aware that the items featured in the model homes may not be as affordable as they think. Designers buy from the trade to afford them better pricing. So, buyer beware.
