G R A T I T U D E I usually don’t share very personal stories but this one I felt I had to: My parents immigrated to Canada from Iraq back in 1994, I was 4 years old. They came here with 4 kids and nothing in their pockets. Thankfully, my grandparents were here and helped us find a place to settle into. My parents worked really hard to give us a good life, they each worked two jobs while my grandparents took care of us. My youngest brother was born just 2 years later which... made us 5 kids. When I saw my childhood friend @iitsandraa post about The Toronto Star Santa Claus fund, it brought back some very happy and tearful memories. As kids, we were recipients of this fund and I remember us crying with joy when we received them! My parents didn’t have much money to splurge on us because all the money went towards bills, rent, clothes and food. So this fund was very near and dear to our hearts. I had no idea it was still continuing to this day! Today, my older sis and I volunteered and had a chance to see those same smiles we once had on these kids’ faces I will never forget where we started and how far we’ve come. I’ll forever be grateful These wonderful volunteers are looking for drivers to deliver these boxes before Christmas, there is a ton! If you’d like to help out, please contact @iitsandraa.
