Thank you to everyone who came out to see our exhibition Conversation Pieces as part of DesignTOxKEDD. Wed like to especially thank a couple of people without whom, we couldnt have put it all together. (1/2) A big thank you to our DWA team of amazing people. Whether it was directly helping-out with the exhibition and installation or holding-down-the-fort at the office. We are so proud of our team! A huge thank you to David Moses of David Moses Engineers. Yes, in designin...g the large chair we enlisted the help of an engineer! Scaling up put us in the realm of structural engineering: hardwoods, furniture connectors, loads all of these are unknowns for building engineers but the fundamental of physics and material behaviour still apply. Finally, thank you to @enrichitwoodworks DesignTO King East Design District @firstgulftravelagency and @reprodux for your support. . . . . #DesignTO #DesignTO19 #kedd #designworkshoparchitects #torontodesignweek #designtoxkedd #conversationpieces #art_chitecture #art #design #torontoarchitect #toronto #the6ix @ The Globe and Mail Centre

Conversation Pieces by Design Workshop Architects Reception (KEDD Night): Jan 21, 6:00pm - 9:00pm Artist talk: 7:45pm ... The Globe and Mail Centre, 351 King Street East Exhibition continues January 18 27, 2019 as part of DesignTO Exhibition: Across the vast space of the new Globe and Mail Centres elegant lobby, two unoccupied chairs face each other; a record of a conversation concluded. As visitors walk down the length of the lobby, the actual difference in scale and location between the chairs is revealed: one is small, the other enormous. This is both a metaphor for our differences from one another and a poignant reminder that the way in which we inhabit architectural space inherently changes our experience of it. This site, very close to Canadas first parliament, and now a centre of journalism, is an ideal place to engage with the vital battle to keep the chasm of polarizing politics from becoming uncrossable. This is the conversation we are all engaged in: trying to find common ground between our social, political, economic, spatial and geographic differences. Will we abandon it, or will we stay in the conversation?

Featuring the fall photoshoot of our Davenport Panorama House in Toronto, Ontario. This renovation and addition to an early 20th century home is intended to marry the new with the old, traditional and modern, into a warm and informally elegant interior. The zinc and Ipe wood-clad addition wraps the back of the house so that the main living spaces enjoy broad views from an elevated position on a sloping hilltop lot. On todays #WorldArchitectureDay2018 we are reflecting on how we imagine the future of our city in fiction, art and architecture. What is a city, really? Is it the buildings, bricks, streets and vehicles? The residents, parks and animals? The arts, culture, food, entertainment? My city lives in my mind, in three and four dimensions. A city of the present and the past, and increasingly through the work weve chosen, of the future. We are reflecting on our responsibility to stay focused on the human experience as the world changes around us and as we think about building a real future through design.
