I was looking through my feed, and noticed I don’t think I’ve really ever posted photos of any of my couples getting ready... which is an absolute shame!! Capturing at least a little bit of the getting ready portion of your day is so important to really be able to tell your full story in photos. Whether it be details of the dress, rings florals or invites, reading letters exchanged between the couples, or those quiet moments preparing for the moment you’ve been waiting for, it’s all creating your unique story! Finally decorating for Christmas today has got me like Also can we just appreciate how happy these two make each other

On November 20th, we mourn and honour the lives of transgender, gender non-conforming and 2spirited individuals who lives were taken by senseless acts of anti-transgender violence in the past year. The true picture of the violence that ensues on the trans community is not accurate due to ongoing misgendering that occurs when reports are made. Today should bring awareness to the continued and ongoing transphobia that continues to plague our communities, specifically against racialized trans folks. As someone who belongs to the LGBTQ community, I myself have too easily forgotten that without the T* my life today and the ways in which I love, without persecution, would never be possible. There is so much work to be done. #transdayofremembrance

I think we can all agree this year has made us realize that spending time with your loved ones and making memories is something we should not take for granted! Something about that golden hour glow and the way Hannah and Kayla look at each other in this photo that just hits me right in the feels... I’m really over the lack of sunsets in the winter time, I am mentally at a point where I feel like a toddler sitting at a dinner table banging their fork and spoon saying I want dinner over and over again but instead I’m banging my head on my couch with my slippers on, yelling I want summer, I want sunsets, over and over again. Check on your photographer friends. We aren’t okay.

There are so many things I love about photographing couples, first I LOVE love. I love watching someones’s eyes light up when they look at their partner. I love capturing the little things that make each and every session unique. Honestly, I get too much joy in making couples feel a little uncomfortable because I always get the best smiles . I want you to laugh whether it’s with me or at me lol. I want you to be authentically you, not what you think a session should look like or be like. Noah and Kenzie did exactly that, they laughed, they goofed around and boy did their eyes ever light up when looking at each other. My favourite thing is capturing love like theirs, it’s why I love doing what I do. Side note- 2021 is almost booked up, so if you are thinking about inquiring make sure to do it sooner rather then later!

They say love is blind. I disagree. Infatuation is blind. Love is all-seeing and accepting. Love is seeing the flaws and blemishes and accepting them. Love is accepting the bad habits and mannerisms. Love is recognizing all the fears and insecurities, and knowing your role is to comfort. Love is working through all the challenges and painful times. Infatuation is fragile and will shatter when life is not perfect. Love is strong and it strengthens because it is real.

Okay, can we all agree that today is not the kind of fall day that is enjoyable?! It just is an agonizing reminder that winter is upon us.
