It’s hard to fathom everything that’s happening in the world and what’s going to happen next. It’s hard to understand and change everything over and over again. Despite all the difficulties, the easiest thing of all is to be grateful. Despite the challenges of this year and our Christmas season being cut short, we still managed to make a good run of it. The point of this post was to mention a couple things and how you can support your favourite local businesses during this ti...me as we all move into lockdown once again. This next closure will be detrimental to a lot of businesses, but you can do your part to help. Lots of businesses in the hospitality sector rely on December to get through the slow months (January-April). Purchasing gift cards to use as a gift or use for yourself in the future will tremendously help cash flow. Even more importantly, engage in your favourite businesses posts. The more likes, comments and shares, the more the algorithm will keep the post to the top of the feed which is tremendously helpful to try and promote anything the business is doing. * * I understand lots of people have a fear of purchasing gift cards, with the what if factor if the business closes. I want to take that fear away from the consumer. Please support your local restaurants in brant and brant county. If by chance the local restaurant (within brant or brant county) you purchase the gift card from closes within the next 3 months, I will honour 50 percent of the gift card value inside the restaurant when we are open for regular dining, up to a maximum of $50. The diner must present the gift card, this post and proof of restaurant closure (between December 21st 2020 and March 21st 2021). I really hope this does not happen but I do want to do my part to encourage you to support local where you can and I encourage others to do the same where they can. Good afternoon everyone ! We have some good news and some bad news. Good news first ! This is our new kale & beet salad, it is absolute scrumptious and we can’t wait for you to try it. ALSO, starting tonight, we will be offering a chefs tasting dinner. This will be an 8 course dinner with optional beverage pairing. This will be available every night that we are open, but there is a bit of fine print to be made aware of. The cost is $100/person, beverage pairing is an additio...nal $60/person. Taxes and gratuities are extra. The whole table must have the pairing dinner. This will be offered to tables that are not rebooked, unless it is booked ahead of time when you make your reservation so we can be sure to leave enough time for you to enjoy the meal. The menu will be ever changing and presented to you as you arrive. Please feel free to message us if you have any further questions. We look forward to offering this to you ! * * * Now the bad news. Unfortunately, as of Monday, we will be moved to the orange tier which tremendously affects our business/operations, especially during the holiday season. All we ask is for you to be patient and understanding. These are not our rules/restrictions but we are happy to abide by them in hopes this is what it takes to get us back to some sort of normal. Believe me, we feel your frustration and apologize for sounding like a broken record but it is the law. What the orange tier means for us and you as diners is this: -Last call is 9:00pm and all tables must be clear of alcohol by 10:00pm - all tables must be separated by 2 meters and there can not be more than 4 people per table - we must screen all customers with a simple questionnaire and collect contact tracing information - music must be no louder than that of a normal conversation. I ran the sushi bar there for 7 years then gave that up to enter the world of BBQ and had been do that for the past 5 years. I chose the alzheimer society because with the loss of nanny it made me think of my grandmother. She suffered from alzheimers. ITS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN !! It’s king crab szn. I will be bringing in whole, live, Alaskan king crabs November 19th and 26th. Now that I have your attention, listen carefully. This is arguably the best, and one of the most expensive meals you’ll ever have. There is nothing cheap about this meal, but when I tell you that you’ll get what you pay for, I mean it, and all of those who have been in previous years will vouch for it. For that reason alone we are nearly booked out ...for the 19th already but still have a few tables left for the 26th. You must reserve (at least) one crab per table. Each crab serves 3-4 people with sides of coleslaw, nannys scalloped potatoes and cheddar cheese biscuits. Each crab is approximately 6-7lbs and costs $95/lb (making each crab approximately $600-$700). All of the king crab that you enjoy is harvested during this time of year, cooked, frozen then distributed to the grocery stores, markets and restaurants that you purchase it from. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear nanny. Marie Joyce Devlin was known as nanny to anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting her, as she was a nanny to all. She took care of everyone as her own and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She was always the nicest person in the room and will forever be the person I aspire to be. Nanny will forever be our family rock and the foundation which our family is built on. She made our pecan pies for ...27 years and delivered them to us every Friday. Lunch on Fridays with her was always the highlight of my week. We are so fortunate to have had her with us for 88 years as we learned so much from her every single day. Her cooking was second to none and I hope you all can taste her love in our food as that was always the most important ingredient that she taught us. Our family will forever remember her and mourn her loss, but we will continue to push forward and serve you with our whole heart as she would want us too. I had someone say to me last week you sous vide the hell outta that tenderloin eh ?! The truth is, no, I did not. I cooked it super slow over burning cherry wood then smashed it on the heat to give it the most delicious crust ever. All the while cooking it to perfection edge to edge. Now dont get me wrong, I love a sous vide steak but I do love when the sous vide effect can be done without the use of one. We had a great time catering an amazing couples wedding in their backyard today, we also found some new helpers. The details are starting to come together inside the dining room, the art is making its way onto the walls and everything is finding its home. Theres something about cooking the best ingredients that I can get my hands on and serving them to diners who enjoy and appreciate it. As I cook everything over the wood grill and see the reactions, and hear the kind words, it makes me want to do this forever. I was finally able to make my way down to the Norfolk general hospital last week to make the donation for the year of the cat 2.0. Thank you to all that contributed and helped us raise $2025 towards such an amazing cause.
