Thursday, December 24 5 pm Virtual Christmas Eve Worship Service In light of the City of Toronto being in the COVID Grey-Lockdown category, this year's Christmas Eve service will be held virtually and posted on this site following the service.... While this year’s Christmas Eve worship service may not be in-person and it may look and feel different, the message of the Good News of Love Incarnate birthed into the world for us all will remain the same.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE DEWI SANT WELSH UNITED CHURCH EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM At its Nov. 17, 2020, meeting, the DSWUC Emergency Response Team (ERT) made the ...difficult decision to close the church building to in-person worship as of Nov. 18, 2020. THERE WILL BE NO IN-PERSON WORSHIP ON NOV. 22, NOV. 29, or DEC. 6. Currently, the City of Toronto is in the Red-Control zone of the Province of Ontario’s COVID-19 Public Health Regulations. The ERT looked at the information on the Toronto Public Health website relating to COVID-19 regulations and recommendations for the Red-Control status. Two Strong Recommendations from Dr. Eileen deVilla, Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto, were key in the ERT’s decision: Cancel or hold virtually as much as possible all in-person activities that are discretionary. Limit activities outside the home to essential activities only...As much as possible, cancel or hold virtually all in- person discretionary events and activities, including weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites, or ceremonies. (You can access the summary of Public Health Measures for Provincial Red Control Level and Toronto Public Health Specific Enhanced Measures here: https://www.toronto.ca//9271-Public-Health-Measures-for-Pr) While there is a provision in the Provincial Public Health regulations for religious services to be held at 30% capacity of the sanctuary up to 50 people, Dr. deVilla makes it clear in another section that there should be no more than 10 people gathered indoors, properly physically-distanced. She also uses the wording, If you must hold an in-personreligious service The ERT carefully considered if DSWUC must hold in-person worship and came to the conclusion that we have been able to worship virtually in the past and we should make the sacrifice of doing so again for the common good. The ERT believes that we will be able to worship in-person again when the City of Toronto is in the Orange-Restrict zone. We will hope that the City can attain that zone before the end of Advent. In the meantime, as Christians we are called to be an example to the world of what it means to work for the well-being of all people, even if it means sacrificing things that we hold dear. This was Jesus’ example for us. We will continue to be the body of Christ, joined together by the Spirit, even if we can only meet and worship virtually. Rev. Liz
