OK people...what Im trying to say is that when choosing a tile for shower or wet areas, You should definately consider waterproofing. The board should be dense shield or dura rock. When using a wall tile it is equal to 9 cups of water that is absorbed into the tile after taking a shower. Which means dampness can get behind tile and start to cause MOLD. There is a lot of different methods you can use for waterproofing. here are a couple of suggestions...HPG, Aqua Defense, Kerdi membrane, red guard. Make sure you water proof your showers before tile installation.

A lot of people do not realize that it does matter what tile you choose and consider before purchasing. If you look at this graph, you will see that each type tile type has a percentage of water absorption. Both floor tile and wall tile have up to 18% water absorption. So when putting tile in showers or wet areas you really need to consider waterproofing before you tile. We will stay on this subject since there is a lot to know and issues to go over
