We had some requests to sell our bushings outside of our wing lug kits. Now you can purchase these individually as needed! Our PDA AT8-C3W66-003 bushings can ship same day with a Form One. Need oversized bushings? These are available upon request. Wing lug kits are also in stock.
It may rain for days on this coast in the winter but the days we get the sun are worth it! We hope your January is kicking off to a great start so far and here is to a safe and prosperous New Year for all of our fellow operators, customers and deHavilland enthusiasts!
Our Wing Lug kits are back in stock! Contact us for a quote and more information. Please allow a one week lead time for shipments. #wingoverhaul #dehvavillandcanada #dhc3otter #dhc3

AeroTech Industries and the VIA AMO have moved out of the boat shed and into the hangar next door on the Spit. It’s a big step for us! We’re pretty excited-and warm! Not fully moved but more to come. #movingonup #dhc3 #prattandwhitneycanada #tyeespit #amo #maintenancehangar #AME #maintenaceteam #taildragger #dehavillandotter #dhc3otter #aircrafthangar #manufacturingengineering
QND looking fresh and ready to go this morning We’re still loving the 4-blade!
Mornings at the dock are some of the nicest
What an awesome video featuring our owner/operator Larry Langford.
An Otter on wheels makes you really appreciate the real beast. #dhc3 #dehavillandotter #bushplane
Wheel gear at a float plane base? We might just have our very first Otter on wheels temporarily. The pilots seem pretty excited!
The deHavilland Otter has greatly evolved over time from its development in the 1950's. There are many different modifications/STC's to choose from. What is your favorite thing about the Otter? What is your least favorite thing about the Otter?... #dhc3 #dehavillandotter #dehavillandcanada #prattandwhitneycanada #bushplane #seaplane #floatplane
We do have one Tie Bar Assy left (PDA, AT-9, C3FS14-5) Form one included. Contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] if you are interested! With the operator in mind we try to keep our prices affordable. Email us for a product list.
Vancouver Island Air is mentioned in an article this month from Skies Magazine. We're proud of our pilots and feel very lucky we work with owner/operator Larry Langford, chief pilot Steve Crerar, Gordon Cyr, and pilot/AME, Richard Davey. Give it a read if you love floatplanes as much as we do!... #skiesmag #dhc3 #dehavillandotter #floatplane
Wing overhaul in progress!
It’s a beautiful day on the spit!

We’re passionate about airplanes at AeroTech industries/VIA and making them better. Being located in Campbell River is also a nice bonus. We’re hoping everyone had a fun and safe Canada Day this week and happy early 4th of July to our neighbors!
The crew moved a little bit of Vancouver Island Air history today!
Our Hartzell 4-blade is officially approved for the VIA fleet. Here’s a little snippet of some start up action.
VIX got to see some new territory this week. #beachlife
We have one LAST set of gear legs/elephant legs available for purchase for the season. 7170 and 8100 floats apply for these. Contact [email protected] for these or any DHC-3 inquiries!
A bit of fly by action to get you through the end of the day!
We’ll start out by saying, the world is absolutely turned upside down right now. We have people that visit us from all over the world and things aren’t great for many of us. Wilderness North had QND through another time of turmoil. They decided to do something incredible and to extend their hand to the US after the 9/11 attacks. Their pilot Randy Melnick, (bush pilot, retired RCMP, and volunteer firefighter) delivered the Canadian flag to ground zero, it was the only flag all...owed at that time other than the United States flag. Wilderness North then sent QND on a tour through the US to let their citizens know that they are welcome in Canada and to offer support to first responders along the way. Alan and Krista Cheeseman of Wilderness North were nice enough to reproduce the logo used and give us the story. We took the flags of every US state visited during the Flight of Friendship Tour and did our best to honor what their operation did with one of our panels. The dehavilland Otter is a Canadian icon and QND served the US military and civil operations in the United States before coming back up north. We’re thankful we have QND and she continues to serve the Vancouver Island area to this day. A big thanks to our friends at Wilderness North Air who are still operating in the Thunder Bay Area. QND is back to work this week after her engine change and we are offering for anyone that has flown in QND or that visits us this summer to bring in a sticker that represents where they are from and we will put it on the cowls. (Please send any stickers to: Vancouver Island Air, ATTN Maintenance Team, PO Box 727, 2870 Spit Road, Campbell River, BC, V9W 6J3, Canada). If you send it by postal service don’t forget to include the PO Box number! Additional photos courtesy of Krista Cheeseman.
QND’s -140A conversion is complete. We put flags and places we go to represent all of the places QND has been. We invite anyone that flies on QND or anyone that has flown on QND to bring in or send in stickers to represent where they are from and we’ll put them on the cowls as long as these are on. QND has quite a story (along with many other Otters) and we found this as a unique opportunity to show her history. We also dedicated an entire panel to Wilderness North Air and we will be telling their story of QND in the upcoming days. PS We aren’t trying to win a beauty contest here but more so representing the amazing things this Otter has done.
We have to keep going right now for our community and others that depend on us. Please contact us if you need parts/hardware or just to talk things through for your operation. We are cleaning the planes like crazy (especially in between flights) and offering disposable gloves/ear plugs if you do have to travel. Stay safe! We are here to help if you need it-Otter/Beaver or anyone. We are in this together right?
Had an awesome visit from Amik Outposts/Lac Seul Aviation today! Thanks for swinging by! Check them out in Red Lake, Ontario if you find yourself in their area.
We did it. Two Otters in the boat shed! Now the fun starts.
QND coming up for the engine change. Everyone here is excited for our newest PT6A-140A to be in the fleet!
