I was looking through NRCHA stats the last few days and ran across my name listed in the top 100 up and coming cowhorse owners. I definitely didn’t expect to see my name there but was honored by this discovery. Makes the hard work and dedication of buying, raising, promoting, training; and having in training the very best cowhorses seem a little more worth it.

Was a fun weekend at Silver Slate Arena where I won the Level 1 Open Futurity aboad Wayne Knaap and Kim Knaap gelding WKK Whiskeyontheroad. Thanks to Knaaps for raising an awesome horse and giving me the opportunity to continue showing him. Also, thanks to the Alberta Reined Cowhorse Association and Silver Slate Arena for putting on a great show.

Thankful for an awesome show at the largest cowhorse show in Canada, the Alberta Reined Cowhorse show in Claresholm Alberta a few weeks ago. My futurity horse was solid for me and won two out of the three open futurity divisions. Bringing home two buckles and a couple nice cheques. In the Derby I won a 3rd place cheque aboard ‘Rowdy’ owned by Wayne and Kim Knaap. Thanks to the Alberta Reined Cowhorse Association for putting on such a great show!

I am excited to host this fall clinic! It will be an enjoyable weekend of fun and learning for those of all levels. Wether this is your first time working the flag/buffalo or if you want to polish up your skills for an upcoming show. There will be something for everyone. * Gone to a great new home* WKK Whiskeyontheroad is a stunning three year old red roan gelding who is already a money earner in the NRCHA. Excellent foot and bone, stands 15 hh. He was the Level 1 limited Open Futurity Champion at the Cow Up On The Prairie Futurity this July. Lots of fun to show and is easy to get ready. Scores well in the herd,reined work and is exceptional down the fence. Knows his leads and is a hard stopper. I have also used him lots for ranch work.Moving and sorting cattle and roping at brandings this spring. He is looking for a new pasture to call his own. Had a blast at the Cow Up On The Prairie Cowhorse Futurity in Stavely Alberta a few weeks ago. Was the very first outing this year for the futurity horses and they both laid down solid runs in all three events. I was very excited to win the Level 1 Open Futurity on my gelding ‘WKK Whiskeyontheroad’ and to win the Reserve Championship in the same class aboard ‘Ima Dancin Cat’ owned by Brandon and Candice Armstrong. In the Derby I won a fifth place cheque on WKK Roadsidewhiskey owned by Wayne Knaap and Kim Knaap . It felt awesome to get back into the show pen after a long winter/spring and win cheque’s on all three of my show horses. Thanks a million to my friends/customers who believe in my program and send me down the road with such talented horses!!

Diamond J Val, earner in excess of $25,000 in Reined Cowhorse competition but she ain’t no Cowhorse until she’d drug calves at a branding this summer.

I sure had fun today roping on this four year old Cowhorse who I’ll be showing later this year in the Derby. To me this gelding Epitomizes why I believe the Reined Cowhorse to be greatest of all the equine disciplines. Not only did he win two Cowhorse Futurities last year but this year with everything going on I decided he might enjoy some ranch work. This is Only his Second time EVER being roped off of. The Reined Cowhorse produces well rounded horses that are equipped to excel wherever you take them. Need I say more!

With most of us being stuck at home right now waiting for things to get back to normal. It can be easy to get bogged down with all the negative stuff floating around on the internet. I’m thankful to still be able to ride horses everyday and thought I’d share a fun little video with a few of the horses I’m working on. I’m praying that you will all stay safe and use common sense during this time. Call me crazy, but I’m very optimistic that things will start to get back to normal in the not too distant future. We might have to be patient for a little longer, but it ain’t gonna last forever.

Had a fun time at my clinic at Dallas Valley Ranch this pasted weekend. Then , Saturday evening after the clinic was finished up for the day I was able to run into Regina and accept my achievement buckle from the Saskatchewan Cutting Horse Association. It’s a nice milestone to reach and I appreciate SCHA putting up the buckle.

2019 is just about a wrap and what an awesome year for myself and my horse training business. It’s been a busy year getting settled into my new place along with the excitement of the completion of my new indoor riding arena. A big thank you to each of my customers who sent horses for training, purchased a horse from me or attended one of my clinics. I especially appreciate the patience of everyone as it has been a busy year. It sure means a lot to me to have such great custo...mers! Several highlights of the year were: - Winning the 2019 SK. Trainers Challenge at Saskatoon Equine Expo in Feb. - Winning the 2019 level 1 Open Reined Cowhorse Futurity Championship in Saskatoon at the Classic Cowhorse Futurity. - Winning the 2019 limited Open Reined Cowhorse Championship in Ponoka AB. at the Canadian Snaffle Bit Futurity held in Ponoka AB. - Trainer and presenter of the high selling prospect at the Ranch Country Horse Sale in Maple Creek SK.
