We had a very exciting day yesterday when this lovely couple celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Their family helped to make it special with a video chat, Hawaiian pizza for lunch and to end the day with a meal on their favourite china. Happy anniversary Marjorie and George.

Good evening to all Diamond House Families. With the increase cases of Covid-19 around the province, we once again are asked to re-assess our visiting protocol to help stop the spread and keep our home as safe as possible. We understand how hard this time is for all our residents, their families and our care team. Living through these unusual and difficult times invites serious reflection on important and existential questions. We are all asking the same core questions: ... How will we get through this? How do we provide our residents with the best possible quality of life by limiting access to their loved ones? So far we have learned (whether we like it or not) that we are completely interconnected and interdependent, and that without solidarity, especially with the most vulnerable among us, we all will lose. So once again, as the 2nd wave of COVID infections takes hold, we come together and unite with a common goal to keep our residents and their home as safe as possible yet understanding that mental health and physical health is of great importance. For the next 3 weeks (Nov 18th Dec 9th) Diamond House will support Compassionate Visits for residents that are: Having a rapid decline in the physical and mental health End of Life In need of family members to provide close personal care as this was the practice in place prior to the pandemic As a care team, we will be monitoring the residents daily and inform families of needed compassionate visits. All families that meet that have loved ones that meet the criteria above, will designate 2 healthy individuals that are able to limit public exposure, wear a mask at all time outside their home and pass the screening assessment. These two designated individuals can visit the resident one at a time in their suite except for end of life when 2 visitors can visit at one time. NOTE: End of Life can be any immediate family members only, providing all COVID screening is completed and accepted & all required PPE is worn while in the home) . We want all visitors to remember the importance of keeping their mask on at all times while in the home, and limit your exposure to all other residents in the home and our staff as much as possible. Masks are the biggest defense we have to stop the virus from hurting anyone in the home and we thank you for doing your part to stop this virus from entering Diamond House. We ask once again that you please circulate this latest announcement to all your family members. If you have any concerns, please let us know or contact the Ministry of Health Community care Branch at 306-787-7239. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this matter. Good morning Diamond House families & friends, I can appreciate that many of your are anxiously waiting for news surrounding the possibility of getting back into the home to visit your loved ones. During yesterdays Public Health COVID update, presented by Mr. Scott Moe (Premier of Sask) & Dr. Saqib Shahab (Sask Chief Medical Officer), they did not announce an update for visiting protocol in all LTC & PCH in Saskatchewan as they said they would do, however they are now report...ing this morning that nothing has changed and visiting in all LTC & PCH in Saskatoon & area, Regina & area and Prince Albert & area are restricted to compassionate and end of live visits only. I know this is not the news we want to hear, and trust me, this is not what I was hoping to report to all of our families. Golden Health Care has always promoted the Quality of life, and we will continue to offer that to our residents (your loved ones) as much as we can while honoring the mandates placed on us by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. I can assure you that everybody is being well cared for, and they are all considered our family as well, so this home continues to be surrounded with love & laughter. Please be assured, that the moment anything changes, I will be contacting all of you to share any developments with the home and the visiting protocols. Dear Diamond House Families & Friends, We regretfully are having to inform all of you, in order to keep everyone in SHA facilities and care homes across Saskatchewan safe during this time, SHA has once again mandated that family presence/visitation is being limited in to compassionate reasons only in all SASKATOON SHA facilities and affiliate. These restrictions will be effective at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 21, 2020. These restrictions will be reassessed by 4:00 p.m. T...uesday November 3, 2020. For ALL of our residents outside appointments, we will be attempting to accommodate them if they are urgent in matter, if the clinic will still accept appointments during this new announcement. Diamond House will do everything we can to provide a means of safe transportation for your loved ones to these appointments, however effective 8am this morning we will no longer be permitting family members to assist in getting their loved ones to or from their appointments. Until further notice, family members are welcome to conduct outside window visits with their loved ones here at the home. If these visits are occurring, your loved ones window MUST remain closed, and communication must be done using a phone or other means. Please know that we feel terrible that we are having to inform all of you of this change, but hope that Saskatchewan’s COVID numbers start to show a decline and SHA will revisit this on Nov 3rd and have visiting reinstated in all of our homes. Below is the official announcement by SHA: https://www.saskhealthauthority.ca//Increased-COVID-19-in- Stay Safe & Stay Healthy Sincerely Kelvin Ooms Home Administrator Diamond House Personal Care Home
