I am pleased to add my name to MP Warren Steinley’s letter to the Minister of Health, in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) pre-budget submissions. JDRF Canada’s recommendations would go a long way to assisting the lives of those who live with Type 1 Diabetes. I hope that the Minister of Health will take these recommendations to heart.
COVID-19 has highlighted the necessity of reliable internet service for Canadians. While the Liberal Government has repeatedly promised to improve internet connectivity, they have failed to deliver. The Universal Broadband Fund was announced in the 2019 Budget and then re-announced in June 2020. Five months later and Canadians are still waiting. My Conservative colleagues and I will continue to advocate for lower cell phone prices and for real improvements to broadband internet services, so that Canadians living in rural and remote areas like ours have consistent access to these essential services. If you want to see your internet connectivity, please visit this map: https://www.ic.gc.ca/app/sitt/bbmap/hm.html
I invite you to join me in tuning in TONIGHT at 10:30pm to WNED PBS, for a documentary highlighting the incredible resiliency of Haldimand-Norfolk residents during COVID-19. I am proud to represent residents who, in the face of adversity, overcome challenges and continue to stay preserve!
Please share this video if you support a designated National Suicide Prevention Hotline for Canadians. No one should ever feel alone! #bring988toCanada
Every year on November 11, we pause in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict and peace. This year's Remembrance Day may feel a little different, but across this great nation, we will remember the fallen and their families. I encourage everyone to participate in a virtual ceremony or join fellow Canadians across the country by standing on your doorstep at 11:00 am and observe tw...o minutes of silence. And if you’re driving through Jarvis, Dunnville or Cayuga throughout November, make sure to check out the hanging banners throughout the downtown area, commemorating veterans from our communities. To all the veterans who call Haldimand-Norfolk home, I want to offer my most sincere gratitude for the sacrifice that both you, and your family, have made in service of Canada. Thank you.
Recently, funding to assist farmers in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace has been made available. This funding will allow farmers to claim up to $15,000 to cover preventative expenses such as physical barriers and PPE. Farmers will also be able to claim up to $100,000 to cover housing and workplace modifications. Click the link below for more information.
As we continue to celebrate Veterans' Week, we remember and honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women in the Canadian Armed Forces. Veterans deserve our thanks, not just on Remembrance Day, but every day. Please keep your eyes open for volunteers selling poppies, to support our veterans, local Legions and the highly valued initiatives that poppies make possible.
