Didsbury Fire Department 19.12.2020

Last night crews were at the hall practicing some vehicle extrication scenarios. This is just a reminder for everyone to stay safe out on the highways, especially with the current road conditions. Stay home if you don't have to go out. If you do go out, don't forget your emergency kit and a spare blanket in case you get stranded. And always remember, if you do go behind the wheel, put the phone away, and do not drink and drive!

We get asked all the time if we accept waste or hazardous material for disposal. The answer is we do not. If you are looking to dispose of batteries or printer/...ink cartridges Staples @staples_olds will gladly take them. Fire extinguishers can be taken to Ultimate Safety and all other waste material including waste oil, propane tanks, and other household hazardous waste can be taken to your nearest transfer station. The closest station to Olds is located at Didsbury. They do have a website where you can read more about what they do and do not accept. www.mountainviewwaste.ca . . . #myolds #recycle #didsbury #mountainviewcounty #oldsfirefighters #oldscommunity #myolds #oldsalberta #olds #oldsab #centralalberta See more

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years condem. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Thank you to all the brave men and women who served this great nation of ours. Lest we forget!

DFD Fire Trucks will be out in the community tomorrow evening during Trick or Treating. There will be some rules due to the current COVID situation. Sadly, firefighters will not be handing out candy to trick or treaters this year. Also, firefighters will not get out of the trucks, or let anyone inside the trucks. The trucks will be flashing the lights, firefighters will wave back with big smiles behind the masks, and the trucks will stop as a backdrop for pictures :). Pleas...e remember to stay safe, stay on the sidewalks, have reflective gear on you for visibility in the dark, and during these times: keep your distance and wash your hand often. We look forward to seeing and waving at lots of you tomorrow evening!

DFD has levelled up in the Tender game! As we welcome the new (bigger) Didsbury 360, we are also saying goodbye to the (only) green truck at the fire hall. Thank you for years of service and enjoy retirement. Well deserved!

We are getting very excited to add this new engine to our fleet with a potential arrival date before the end of this year!
