Didsbury Health Professional Attraction and Retention Committee 12.01.2021

In September, RHPAP asked about health services and organizations that contribute to Alberta’s health system. Overall, respondents had a limited understanding of Indigenous health organizations and services, the Health Quality Council of Alberta (HQCA), and the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Rural Mental Health Project. Some respondents wanted to learn about the roles played by Primary Care Networks, Health Advisory Councils, and the HQCA in Alberta, including their functions, services, and mandates. Others would like to know more about mental health services and supports and how these are coordinated across the province. What would you like to learn more about?

I’m so excited. DHPAR Has our first two 2nd year medical residents, Sarah and Chad. They arrived in Didsbury to stay with us for the next 4-6 weeks. They are loving the place and the community so far. Please welcome them when you see them. They will be working out of Trinity Rose. If you can think of fun things they won’t want to miss, please let me know. I want them to enjoy their visit. #Abetterdidsbury

Hello Friends of Healthcare A quick update for you. I’m excited to announce that RHPAP has leased a condo in Didsbury for students of health care professional programs to come and try on rural medicine in Didsbury. Right now we have two U of C 2nd year residents here for another week and then there will be two new resident doctors arriving after that for month long stints. This is very exciting news for our community. It’s an opportunity to promote our community to doctors, ...nurses, specialists, etc. If you have ideas for community needs please let me know. We want to show them the best of Didsbury! We have amazing doctors in our community but this is an opportunity to grow into a centre of excellence in health care for the region. As new resident doctors arrive, Due to Covid I have had to delay an introductory session for people interested in joining our board but please feel free to contact me if you are interested in attending and I will add you to the invite. This will most likely happen in early fall. More news on that to follow. #abetterdidsbury
