Hi Dragons! As we head into our last week of school before Winter break, don’t forget to prepare for our five theme days coming up to earn den points! We’ve made a slight change to our calendar to make up for the last two days we will not be in school. ... Monday - Long Winter’s Nap Day (pj day) Tuesday - Grinch Day (wear green or dress as a character from the Grinch) Wednesday - Holidays in Hawaii Thursday - Holiday Head Gear AND Holiday Sweater (ugly Christmas sweater) day for TWO den points! Friday - Flannel Friday (pjs, masks, shirts, socks anything goes as long as it’s plaid or flannel!)

Good Morning Dragons! As we have seen recently, a number of schools in the province have had to close suddenly due to a positive case of COVID-19 being identified in the school. To date, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within TCRCE schools, however, it is important we prepare in the event our school is required shift to at-home learning. Please know, there is no indication from TCRCE or Public Health that there are plans to move to at-home learning for a defined peri...od of time. This information is to help us prepare should circumstances change. Bringing items home: Students will be asked to bring their personal belongings home with them on the last day before the holiday break. This is only as a precaution; in the event the school is closed unexpectedly. Technology: Students who have already been issued a TCRCE device should take it home on the last day before the holiday break. Students who need access to a device have been identified. Distribution of these devices has already started at some grade levels. We are also making alternate plans for students who need additional support or do not have internet access, should we need to move to at-home learning. Learning Scenarios: There are a variety of learning scenarios that we have been preparing for, including blended learning and at-home learning. For more information these scenarios visit the bottom of this page: https://www.ednet.ns.ca/backtoschool/back-school-plan. TCRCE staff have also been busy preparing behind the scenes and they have created a variety of online resources to ease the shift to online learning. The resources will be shared with students in the event they are needed. Again, please remember, this information is only being shared with you as a proactive measure. It is important that we are prepared in the event the break is longer than expected or if a COVID-19 school based case is identified. We have not been told to expect to shift to online learning. Thanks to everyone for their support and understanding these last few months. Our students and staff have been doing a fantastic job adhering to public health protocols and I appreciate everyone’s cooperation. Sincerely, Jonathan Ettinger Principal Digby Elementary School

Dragons, don’t forget to wear camouflage tomorrow for Den points! Remember, this is a multi-point day which means you can earn one point for each item that is camo! (Hint, animals are camouflage in their environments, so animal print will count too!)
