Permits can be one of two main types, either an #EnvironmentalComplianceApproval (ECA) required for higher-risk facilities, or an Environmental Approvals Sector Registration (EASR). In Ontario, certain proposed facilities, largely government-backed or infrastructure facilities, require an #EnvironmentalAssessment of some type. The most common counter-example, for #EnvironmentalConsultants, of exemptions is where you might have process-sources of gas combustion which are not exempt and thus requiring permitting. Unfortunately, they were developed in 1995 under the working arrangements at that time, where the #MECP took the lead in reviewing proponent assessments.
