I am a bit overwhelmed by what went on in my life yesterday. I always feel so fortunate for the people and opportunities surrounding me. Starting in the morni...ng the service team in the shop were busy preparing a dozen skis for testing that evening. Skis that had been in the hotbox and meticulously tuned. In addition to all of the regular tuning for the day, the team got a dozen more demo skis in my truck for 3 pm. Super effort. The shop had a noon time rush for footbeds with multiple customers with highly sensitive feet. At the end of our footbed fabrication and shoe customization clients remarked that the Dinardo custom footbeds allowed them to select the right size of snowboard boot and shoe instead of defaulting to a size bigger and loosing rear foot stability and support. Once at Edelweiss, Guy and the on-hill team greeted us with fabulous skiing conditions and sugary but grippy snow. I was skiing with Don and Michelle (long time clients) to prepare them for their upcoming trip to Austria. Don was getting used to his new boots and footbeds a size smaller than the ones that I had fabricated for him 12 years ago. The result of the new boots and footbeds was that he had improved control and ease and efficiency of skiing. Michelle is due for new skis and the ones that she tested proved to be a little too heavy and stiff for her trim build, however, based on that information I now know the perfect ski to suit her. As the team arrived from the store we brought all of the demos to the snow for testing but unfortunately Guy forgot to ski on the Kastle MX 67's that he had been anxious to try for over a year. None the less having staff testing and experiencing how skis work on our local conditions enables us to effectively recommend the perfect ski for our clients. I had the pleasure of skiing with a family who had researched my shop from Australia and arranged to meet me at the shop to be equipped with new gear. As we skied together I was able to provide a description and visual demonstration for Anna to experience a different facet of skiing than what she had had before. We really connected on the sensations of what skiing creates and the muscles that we need to use for maximum support and efficiency. During apres-ski, conversation with Sarah (ski instructor) indicated that her boots were causing such pain and cramping that Jo needed to release her buckles on the lift. No matter how much people love skiing they are always reluctant to get new boots even when their existing boots are inappropriate. Needless to say Sarah has committed to visiting Dinardo's in the near future! All in all, what a rewarding day!
