REMINDER: Those who receive the Canada Child Benefit will see a one-time increase to their May 2020 payment! Here are the details: https://www.canada.ca///covid-19-ccb-payment-increase.html
Those receiving the money who aren't entitled to it could be putting their own financial futures at risk.
Delays in paper-filed returns and refunds via cheque!
The CRA has released multiple changes to all the various deadlines. Here is your resource for the updated deadlines! https://www.canada.ca///covid-19-filing-payment-dates.html
RE-Share If you currently receive the Canada Child Benefit and HAVE NOT completed your 2019 taxes, you need to get them in soon regardless of the tax deadline extension so your payments are not disrupted come July! The CRA needs time to receive your return and calculate your entitlement! DO NOT WAIT!! ... I am still preparing taxes and operating with contact-less measures!
Thank you to all those who voted for me in the Bookkeeping and Income tax categories!! I was oblivious to this happening as I've been eat, sleep, and breathing taxes so it was a nice surprise to see this morning!! Congrats to the other winners in these categories as well!
Please make sure you save a portion of each CERB payment you receive so you don't get upset with me next tax season when I tell you that you owe!
Our family has been looking to support local, small business to do out part to help keep the community afloat. We've been doing this by ordering dinner once a week from various local establishments, and other delivery options. We just placed an order for books to support Play Café Peterborough! It's through Usborne books and to be honest, I have never ordered from there but I had a skepticism that it would be expensive. Since I seem to have more browsing time these days, I ...decided to have a look and to my surprise I found I was clearly uninformed! I was able to order 4 activity style books of varying age appropriateness to help our family survive rainy days and it was less than $40 delivered to my door!! I was surprised by the options available from your standard story book, to interactive books, as well as craft and activity books! You can contact Sarah Susnar (she's the owner of Play Cafe) if you want to check it out too! See more
For those who are entitled to Canada Child Benefits or GST/HST credits: Although the tax filing deadline has been extended to June 1, 2020, the CRA recommends that if you are entitled to receive CCB or GST credit you should NOT delay filing your taxes so that the calulcation can be completed in time for the next payment year that starts with your July payment! If you wait to file in May or June, your July payments could be delayed!! Source (located under Flexibility for Taxp...ayers): https://www.canada.ca//canadas-covid-19-economic-response- I am filing taxes through contact-less methods and available for new clients as well!! PM me if you have questions.
Applications to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit are opening soon. To make sure we can help you quickly, we’re asking you to apply on different weekdays depending on birth month. Find out more at http://ow.ly/NEKS50z3MZr
OPEN FOR BUSINESS!! Yes, I am still doing taxes!! CONTACT-LESS TAX RETURN PREPARATION:... Two options for dropoff: 1. Place all your documents in an envelope or ziploc bag and drop into my dropbox (or mailbox if it doesn't fit). We are always home so items are safe! 2. Email me your documents. Two options for pickup/signature: 1. I can leave your package outside in my mailbox for you to sign the page I need on my porch and then put it in the dropbox and take your package with you. 2. I can email you the document I need signed for electronic signature (does not require a printer; you can sign on your computer/phone/tablet) and I can get you copies of your return either by mailbox pickup or email. If you have any questions, let me know! If you haven't received my tax package with checklist for 2019 or are a new client and would like one, please email me at [email protected]. Note: the deadline has been moved to June 1, 2020 during the Covid 19 crisis however, I strongly suggest the sooner you get it done, the sooner it will be in their hands for any further credits coming in the future as well as the Canada Child Benefit that is based on this tax year. If you owe, you don't need to pay until September 1, 2020.
Here is a summary of the new deadlines from CRA: https://www.canada.ca///covid-19-filing-payment-dates.html
Update: Federal government on Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy - Would apply at a r...ate of 75 per cent of the first $58,700 normally earned by employees representing a benefit of up to $847 per week. - The program would be in place for a 12-week period, from March 15 to June 6, 2020. - Eligible employers who suffer a drop in gross revenues of at least 30 per cent in March, April or May, when compared to the same month in 2019, would be able to access the subsidy. - Eligible employers would include employers of all sizes and across all sectors of the economy, with the exception of public sector entities. - For non-profit organizations and registered charities similarly affected by a loss of revenue, the government will continue to work with the sector to ensure the definition of revenue is appropriate to their circumstances. The government is also considering additional support for non-profits and charities, particularly those involved in the front line response to COVID-19. Further details will be announced in the near term. - An eligible employer’s entitlement to this wage subsidy will be based entirely on the salary or wages actually paid to employees. All employers would be expected to at least make best efforts to top up salaries to 100% of the maximum wages covered. - Eligible employers would be able to access the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy by applying through a Canada Revenue Agency online portal. More details regarding how to apply for the program will follow. Those organizations that DO NOT qualify for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy may continue to qualify for the previously announced wage subsidy of 10 per cent of remuneration paid from March 18 to before June 20, up to a maximum subsidy of $1,375 per employee and $25,000 per employer. Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) - Applications open April 6th - Set up your MYCRA account before April 6th - If you have already applied for EI you will be moved over automatically to CERB - If you have not applied for EI; apply for CERB - If you are receiving the Temporary Wage Subsidy through your employer you cannot also receive CERB - Choosing direct deposit will get the money in your hands in 3-5 days; people on CERB will have to check-in with CRA each month.
